- Shri Arun Kumar Jain, GM(In-charge) Inaugurates the celebrations at Hyderabad Railway Station
Indian Railways is celebrating a week-long of ‘Azadi Ki Rail Gadi Aur Station’ under the aegis of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’. Shri Vinay Kumar Tripathi, Chairman & CEO, Railway Board launched the iconic celebrations at the central level today i.e., 18th July, 2022. Subsequently, Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager (In-charge), SCR inaugurated the celebrations at Hyderabad Railway station in the presence Shri A.K Gupta, DRM, Secunderabad and other senior Railway officials. The celebrations will take place from 18th to 23rd July, 2022 to commemorate the ongoing ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebrations across India. Four Railway stations on SCR jurisdiction viz., Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Guntur and Gadwal will be hosting the historic events during the week.
To commemorate 75 years of independent India, the nation has been celebrating Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav across the length of breadth of the country. Indian Railways has intricately related to freedom struggle, connecting Patriots across diverse regions socially, culturally and politically among others. As part of the same, the Railways have decided to celebrate this historic occasion by giving special focus to 75 Railway stations and 27 trains associated with the freedom struggle across the Nation. South Central Railway has been fortunate to have four stations on its network. Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Guntur and Gadwal Railway stations along with Telangana Express have been chosen to honour the legacy of our freedom struggle.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Arun Kumar Jain stated that it is a great initiative by the Government of India and the Indian Railways to honour the rich legacy of our freedom struggle for independent Nation. He called upon the people to recognize, respect and honour those great freedom fighters that fought and laid down their lives for an independent India. He stated that Hyderabad Railway station earned a special place as Mahathma Gandhi ji visited the city several times during the freedom movement between 1929 and 1934. Let’s recall our freedom struggle with pride, I hope the events will spread the message of the contribution and sacrifices of various freedom fighters to the public, he added.
The Azadi Ki Rail events aim to spread awareness about the freedom struggle and honor the freedom fighters from all across the country who devoted their life to achieve independence. South Central Railway has planned a host of cultural and historic events for the week long celebrations which will charge the public with pride and reaffirm their dedication to the Nation. Stations will be decked up with light and sound shows in addition to Nukkad Nataks and other daily events.
