Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager (In-Charge), South Central Railway conducted a detailed review meeting on monsoon preparedness in view of heavy rains across the zone today i.e., 1st August, 2022 at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad along with Principal Heads of Departments. Divisional Railway Managers (DRMs) of all the six divisions viz., Vijayawada, Guntakal, Guntur, Secunderabad, Hyderabad and Nanded Divisions also participated in the meeting through web conference.
The General Manager stressed that the Railway Ministry has taken serious concern on the Monsoon Preparedness to ensure the safety of the trains and seamless transportation of goods. He instructed officials to strengthen patrolling at all identified vulnerable sections such as tracks, bridges and locations with heavy rainfall to prevent unsafe conditions. He also informed the concerned officials to ensure cleaning and maintenance of side water drains, catch water drains and waterways to avoid flooding of tracks and ensure smooth running of trains.
The General Manager reviewed the Punctuality of the zone with all the DRMs. He observed that the average speeds of the freight trains has reduced due to heavy rain-fall and advised the DRMs to monitor the situations and devise action plan to improve the average speeds of the freight trains so as to reach the destinations in a stipulated time.
The General Manager also reviewed the works of remodeling of Sidings to improve the operational flexibility and handling of more loading / unloading of freight trains with in less time. He instructed the DRMs to complete one siding remodeling works in each Division before 15th August, 2022. He also reviewed the work done by Business Development Units (BDU) setup in the Divisions to find the new business opportunities over the Zone. He advised the BDUs to continue attracting new commodities from the new areas to add the Zone’s freight business basket.
