Shri G. Kishan Reddy, Hon’ble Minister of Culture, Tourism and Development of North Eastern Region of India inspected the progress of Satellite Terminal works at Charlapalli Railway station today i.e., 10th September, 2022. He was accompanied by Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager (In-charge), SCR, Shri Neeraj Agarwal, CAO, Construction, Shri J.K Jain, Principal Chief Mechanical Engineer, Shri A.K Gupta, Divisional Railway Manager, Secunderabad Division and other senior Railway officials throughout the inspection.
The Hon’ble Minister inspected the development works of Satellite terminal at Charlapalli Railway station. He reviewed the progress of coach maintenance facilities and other infrastructural works. He stated that Charlapalli Railway station will become the fourth major passenger terminal in the twin cities. The new terminal is being developed with modern facilities on par with airports. The Hon’ble Minister also stated that the development works will be completed by December, 2023. He appreciated the Railways for undertaking the project in a phased manner and stated that the Satellite terminal will provide enhanced transport facility to Rail passengers in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. It is also convenient for mobility of both public and private transport as it is connected directly with the outer ring road, he stated. He also appreciated the Railways for undertaking the project with an environment friendly approach such as translocation of trees, afforestation, rain water harvesting etc.,The Hon’ble Minister advised the officials to speed up the works so as to ensure timely completion of the project. Further, he also stated that the redevelopment of Secunderabad Railway station is being undertaken with an expenditure of over Rs 600 crore.
Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager (In-charge) briefed the Hon’ble Minister about the project details. As part of the development, several works are in progress including widening of existing island platform, New Platform along with new line for MMTS trains, 2 Cover over Platforms (COP) on new Platforms and 1 COP on existing Platform, Extension of Foot over Bridge for new High level platforms, Water pedestals on both the new platforms and island platform, Lighting arrangements on new and island platforms, the General Manager informed.
During the course of the inspection, Shri G. Kishan Reddy interacted with media personnel and trade union representatives. He also interacted with the workers and enquired about the safety precautions observed by them.
