- General Manager also inspects Centre of Excellence set up in the areas of ‘Kavach’ & Long Term Evaluation At IRISET
Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager (In-Charge), South Central Railway inspected the on-going infrastructure improvement works at Indian Railways Institute of Signal Engineering and Telecommunications (IRISET) and also reviewed the performance of the institute today i.e., 14th October, 2022. He was aaccompanied by Shri Sudhir Kumar, Director General, IRISET, Shri Sharat Chandrayan, Divisional Railway Manager, Hyderabad Division and other senior officials.
The General Manager inspected the progress of several important improvement works undertaken by the institute which are targeted for completion in the near future including setting up of new technology items like Long Term Evaluation (LTE), Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) Setup of Electronic Interlocking, Smart Classrooms and Renovated Staff Facilities.
Further, Shri Arun Kumar Jain examined the laboratory set up for ‘KAVACH’ – Indigenous Automatic Train Protection System in the Institute for giving hands on skills to the manpower from Railways and Private Industries. During the inspection, the Director General briefed the General Manager on the initiatives undertaken to set up Centre of Excellence in the areas of KAVACH and LTE. The Institute has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with AICTE and Engineering Colleges earlier to impart formal education on Railway Signalling and Kavach technologies to B. Tech students. In addition, the Institute has recently conducted Faculty Development Programme for engineering colleges to empower them with the knowledge to teach these Signalling subjects to the students.
IRISET has adopted innovative methods to train the manpower of Zonal Railways directly associated with safety of train operations. Blended model of learning consisting of online and on-campus components, upgradation of learning resources, revision of training curriculum and development of e-learning tutorials have been undertaken by the Institute to improve the quality of learning.
