PR No. 660 - SCR Undertakes Special Campaign 2.0 on a Large Scale Across the Zone During the Month of October

- Special Campaign Undertaken at 731 Stations across SCR

Continuing with the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, the Government of India has been undertaking several campaigns and initiatives to further spread awareness and improve all around cleanliness in the Country. Towards this objective, a Special Campaign 2.0 was launched to further improve cleanliness, reduce pendency and improve work-culture.

As envisaged by the Ministry of Railways, South Central Railway had also undertaken ‘Special Campaign 2.0’ in October 2022 o­n a large scale across the zone to further promote cleanliness and good governance in all spheres of working through improved work-culture. The campaign was undertaken at 731 Railway stations over six divisions of SCR i.e., Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Guntur, Guntakal and Nanded.

Under the Special Campaign 2.0 emphasis was laid o­n intensifying mechanized cleaning at all major Railway stations to ensure effective cleanliness. Several awareness campaigns were also undertaken to enlighten the passengers o­n proper disposal of waste materials and o­n taking responsibility for upkeep of cleanliness at Railway premises. Further, extensive cleanliness activity was undertaken o­n Railway tracks and yards for effective removal of garbage and plastic. Passengers were also informed about avoiding use of single use plastic to achieve the ‘Har Patri Saaf Sutri’ objective. Nukkad Nataks were performed at Railway stations to create awareness among the staff, contract workers, public and travelling passengers. Units/Offices were cleaned by scrapping old records, machinery, tools and plants.

The campaign was also extended to Railway stations in remote areas to create awareness o­n the importance of Swachhata in every part the country. Special emphasis was also laid o­n Community Service, dissemination of information and education o­n better hygiene practices related to cleanliness at stations, trains, depots, yards, Railway colonies and other units. The Special Campaign 2.0 was successfully completed for the month of October across the zone with participation of Railway staff, contractual staff, outside agencies, Social Organizations and Rail users.

Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager (In-Charge), SCR appreciated team SCR for actively taking part and making the special campaign 2.0 a huge success. He stated that we should all works towards achieving Mahathma Gandhi’s dream of clean and hygienic India. He advised that we should continuously spread the message of Swachhata through our words and actions so that the message reaches across the length and breadth of the country.
