Shri G. Kishan Reddy, Hon’ble Minister of Culture, Tourism and Development of North Eastern Region, Govt of India visited Secunderabad Railway Station and reviewed station redevelopment plans today i.e., 14th November, 2022. He was accompanied by Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, SCR, Shri Neeraj Agrawal, CAO, Construction, Shri A.K Gupta, Divisional Railway Manager, Secunderabad Division and other senior Railway officials.
Shri G. Kishan Reddy conducted a detailed review on the redevelopment plan of Secunderabad Railway Station. Addressing the media at Secunderabad Railway station, the Hon’ble Minister stated that Secunderabad Railway station will soon become the Best Railway Station in Telangana with modern facilities and improved architectural design. The project is being undertaken in a phased manner so as to avoid any disruption to train operations, he stated. He informed that Secunderabad Railway station is being redeveloped with airport like infrastructural facilities with a vision to suit the requirements of passengers up to the next 40 years.
Further, Shri G. Kishan Reddy stated that the redevelopment plan of Secunderabad Railway station includes modern passenger amenities, modern architecture, modern technology and comfortable facilities for all passengers. The redevelopment works will be undertaken in 3 phases, the first phased works will be completed in 16 months, second phase in 28 months, third phase in 36 months, he stated. The new station building will have 26 lifts, 32 escalators and number of travelators for easy movement of passengers in the station.
Speaking on the salient features of the project, the Hon’ble Minister stated that there will be a New Station Building at North-side with G + 3 floors & South-side building with G+3 floors and a Double storey Sky concourse. The new design of the station will ensure seamless movement of passengers from one mode to another. Separate Entry & Exit Blocks (Drop off & Pick up locations) will be made to avoid cross movements of Arrival & Departure passengers and vehicular movements. Further, the station will have multi-level and underground car parking facilities to ensure smooth movement of vehicles, he stated. The new station building will be equipped with modernized facilities including electronic sign boards on all platforms for the convenience of passengers.
Shri G. Kishan Reddy stated that the Central Government is committed to the development of Telangana State and is taking several initiatives in this regard. He informed that centre has sanctioned a new Railway Wagon Periodical Overhauling Workshop at Kazipet.
The brief of works that are undertaken under upgradation of Secunderabad station include:
Ø A New Station Building at North-side with G + 3 floors & South-side building with G+3 floors
Ø Double storey Sky concourse
Ø Multi-Level parking at the North-side of the Station & underground Parking at the South Side
Ø Construction of two Walkways (7.5m) along with Travelators i.e. at North & South side buildings
Ø Provision of Walkway at North side duly connecting with Skyway of East & West Metro stations
Ø Renovation of the existing Platforms to match with the new Station ambience
Ø Separate Entry & Exit Blocks (Drop off & Pick up locations) to avoid cross movements of Arrival & Departure passengers and vehicular movements.
Ø Solar Power Plant of 5000 kWp will be setup.
