Under Rail Post Gati Shakti Cargo Express initiative
South Central Railway conducted a meeting with Postal Department Officials today i.e., 28th November, 2022 at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad for introducing end-to-end parcel service to the customers by integrating Railway transportation with Postal Services Pickup and Delivery. Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, South Central Railway, Shri G. John Prasad, Principal Chief Commercial Manager, SCR, Shri Abhay Kumar Gupta, Divisional Railway Manager, Secunderabad Division & Sri K. Prakash, Chief Post Master General, Telangana Circle, Dr. PVS Reddy, Director General (Posts), Hyderabad Region and other Senior Railway Officials and Senior Postal Officials participated in the meeting. Dr. B.S. Christopher, Chief Commercial Manger, Freight Services presented a brief presentation about the parcel transportation and other logistics of South Central Railway Zone.
The main objective of the meeting is to holistic service to the Parcel customers by utilizing the logistics of both Railways and Postal department. The integration of both Railways and Postal services will help in ensuring door step pickup and delivery of the parcel commodities which the public wish to transport to their respective destinations. This will help in booking of consignments to every nook and corner of the country by the common people conveniently by sitting at their home. This will help particularly to those people who wish to book in comparatively small quantities. The transportation through Railways will ensure safe, faster and timely reaching of their products in the economical way.
Speaking on the occasion, General Manager, SCR opined that with this integrated facility, Parcel customers will be able to conveniently book their commodities from the convenience of their homes in the most flexible, cost effective and safe manner.He stated that this will help in effectively utilizing the parcel space available in the express trains and parcel specials along with offering booking and delivery services with the help of Postal logistics.
The Chief Post Master General, Telangana Circle expressed that both the organisations coming together can result in expanding customer base and providing increased service to the customers. He said that a team can be formed with nodal officer from each side so that modalities can be worked out, marketing efforts started for taking the benefits to the customers.
