PR No.799 - SCR Registers Best ever Monthly Freight Loading in December 2022

- SCR Transports 12.160 Million Tonnes Freight Commodities in December 2022 registering 21% growth year-on-year, the best amongst all Zones of Indian Railways

- Total Freight Loading during April - December 2022 crosses 96.384 MTs, which is 13 % higher when compared with same period in the previous financial year.

South Central Railway registers its best ever Months loading in December 2022. The Zone loaded 12.160 Million tonnes of freight during the month, recording 21% growth over same period last year. Incidentally, SCR also achieved best ever incremental loading amongst all Zones of Indian Railways during December 2022. The relentless efforts of SCR officials to attract freight business towards Railways combined with continuous monitoring of the movement of freight trains has helped the Zone to achieve higher freight loading in the current financial year. During April 2022 - December 2022, SCR loaded 96.384 MTs of freight, which is 13 % higher when compared with the same period in the last year.

The growth rebound in freight loading is seen across the freight segment, with all commodities witnessing higher loading levels in the month of December 2022 compared to same period last year. The demand from freight customers was continually monitored so as to provide timely supply of wagons. The Average number of Wagons supplied per day in the month of December 2022 is 6041 wagons, which is 21 % more when compared with December 2021 (4982 Wagons).

The commodity-wise details of the freight loading during the month of December 2022 are as follows: Cement - 6.198 MTs (vs 4.815 MTs in Dec 21), Iron Ore - 0.133 MTs (vs. 0.0 MTs in Dec 21), Cement - 3.065 MTs (vs. 2.752 MTs in Dec21), Fertilizers - 0.745 MTs (vs 0.604 MTs in Dec 21). Similarly, the freight loading of other commodities like Food grains, POL, containers etc combinedly stood at 2.019 MTs. All this has resulted in the total Freight Loading of the Zone increasing by 21% during December 2022 when compared with 10.099 MTs during December 2021.

Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, South Central Railway complimented the Team of Officers and Staff of Operating and Commercial Wings at both Zonal and Divisional level for this performance. He advised the Team to continue making the efforts in this New Year as well so as to get new traffic to Railways, while also strengthening existing basket of freight traffic.
