Strictly implement safety procedures to ensure safety in train operations, said Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, South Central Railway at safety review meeting held on safety of train operations, punctuality, loading performance and progress of various developmental works across the zone today i.e., 3rd January, 2023 at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad. Shri P. Uday Kumar Reddy, Additional General Manager, SCR also participated in the meeting along with all the Principal Heads of Departments. Divisional Railway Manager’s (DRMs) of all six Divisions i.e. Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Guntakal, Guntur and Nanded joined the review meeting through video conference.
Shri Arun Kumar Jain reviewed the safety of train operations over the zone. He instructed the officials to strictly adhere to safety procedures to ensure the safe running of the trains. He advised to regularly council the running staff like loco pilots, assistant loco pilots at the newly located signals and instructed to avoid short cut methods. He advised the officials to focus on to intensifying the inspections to ensure safe passage of trains. He also advised the officials to conduct frequent field inspections to ensure compliance of worksite safety requirements without fail.
He discussed on the punctuality of the mail/express train and advised the officials to improve the punctuality for which non interlocking working needs to be strictly monitored and also ensure minimizing the cancellation of trains etc. He reviewed on the speed restrictions and advised the officials to remove at possible locations to improve the average speed of trains both goods and passenger.
Shri Arun Kumar Jain also reviewed the loading performance of the zone and he congratulated the officials and staff for achieving the target and registering a record incremental loading in December, 2022. He conducted a detailed review on loading of Cement, Food Grains, Coal and other commodities etc. He advised the officials to focus maintaining the same momentum for rest of the financial year.
Further, General Manager reviewed plans for improving the average speed, discussed on long haul trains and advised to improve speed of goods trains. Officials also briefed the GM on infrastructural improvements to be taken up on the zone, commissioning of new signaling, yard remolding and commissioning of bypass lines on the zone. He also reviewed on the progress of ongoing works such as doubling, tripling and electrification, signaling etc.
