Shri Raja Ram, Principal Chief Security Commissioner, South Central Railway has been bestowed with the prestigious President’s Police Medal on the occasion of 74th Republic Day – 2023 for his distinguished service. Shri Raja Ram belongs to the 1989 batch of Indian Railway Protection Force Service and is well known for his dexterity in law and his vast experience in having worked across varied geographies of the nation across various Zonal railways dealing with multifarious challenges of Railway security.
Shri Raja Ram has been regarded as an officer par excellence from his stint as Assistant Security Commissioner whereby the system improvements brought out by him through extensive strategic planning and implementation had brought out expansive results like the prevention of theft of Coal to the tune of Rs 20 Crores in Damra-Bhadrak line and cases of detection of kidnapping and rescue of Assistant Divisional Engineer (ADEN)/Dimapur by joint combing operations in the extremist infested Assam Dimapur terrain.
For his extensive efforts in the field of Railway Security he has been awarded the Indian Police Medal in 2012, DG’s Insignia in 2006, 05 General Manager’s medal, 03 Security Efficiency Shields, 04 appreciations and a Commendation from DG RPF. Apart from his vast Strategic and operational experience, he was also instrumental in drafting RPF Crime Manual 2019, for first time, as Chairman of the Committee, for seamless crime investigation which is basic constitution of RPF field units.
As DIG/RPSF, he shouldered formidable challenges in operational sector in militant/naxal affected areas successfully. As IG-PCSC ECR, NER and ECoR, excelled in controlling the crime in the key result areas – train operation, passenger and railway property crime, e-ticketing, contraband, human trafficking etc., by leveraging technology and extensive personal monitoring. Improved infrastructure and efficiency of Cyber Cell, station security plan, barrack construction, procurement/hiring of vehicles/outsourcing. As Chairman of the Committee for Wearing of Battle Fatigue Uniform for RPF/RPSF and Welfare Committee, submitted its recommendation and the new pattern of the Uniform was launched by the Hon’ble MR during RPF Investiture Parade held on 27.5.2022.
