South Central Railway celebrated the 74th Republic Day with enthusiasm and National fervour today i.e., 26th January, 2023 at Railway Sports Complex Grounds, Secunderabad. Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, South Central Railway, who was the Chief Guest on the occasion unfurled the National Flag and received the Guard of Honour presented by various contingents of Railway Protection Force.
Delivering his address, Shri Arun Kumar Jain extended his greetings to the entire Railway fraternity on the momentous occasion of 74th Republic Day. He stated that our constitution heralded India’s stature as the beacon of democracy for the world to emulate and said that Indian Railways is proud of its own contribution to the growth story of the Nation through each year, lending momentum to its social and economic development. He informed that South Central Railway has registered an impeccable performance during the year, riding high in terms of achievements recorded. The General Manager further elaborated that the Zone has registered a Gross Originating Revenue of Rs 13,787 crore between April and December, 2022 which is significantly higher by 35% over the same nine month period of last fiscal. He stated that history has been created during the period, with freight loading of SCR scaling new heights to cross 100 Million Tonnes mark in the shortest ever period since the Zone’s inception. The freight revenue has also surpassed the Rs. 10,000 Crore mark in just 9 months and16 days during the current financial year, he added.
The General Manager stated that in the Passenger traffic segment, SCR has carried 189 Million from April to December 2022, generating revenue of Rs 3,782 crores which is 86 % high over the same period during the last fiscal. Towards enhancing safety, regular track maintenance activities are being carried out by the Zone, which attained top recognition across Indian Railways. 48 Manned Level crossings were eliminated, Construction of Bridges and Rehabilitation of existing ones was carried out at 64 locations and 146 Express trains across the Zone are being escorted by Security Personnel during the critical night travelling time, he informed.
Further, Shri Arun Kumar Jain stated that South Central Railway is witness to the execution of infrastructure works at the best ever pace during the current financial year, with priority being accorded to last mile connectivity projects. 198 Kms of track has been added to the Zone’s network in the form of new lines, doubling and tripling. SCR has completed 574 Kms of rail electrification which is the highest among all Zones of Indian Railways, he added. He stated that Capacity enhancement has touched a new high, which includes increase in speed to 130 Kmph for 1,743 RKms covering all section of Golden Quadrilateral Golden Diagonal as well as High Density route of the Zone.
Shri Arun Kumar Jain informed that the pride of Indian Railways, the indigenously developed Vande Bharat Express commenced its run on the Zone between Secunderabad and Visakhapatnam. It was our privilege that this semi-high speed train linking the two Telugu states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh was flagged off by our Hon’ble Prime Minister on the auspicious festival day of Makar Sankranti, he said.
Shri Arun Kumar Jain stated that the splendid all round performance of SCR is a testimony of the commitment shown by the dedicated work force at every step. As we salute our National Tri-colour this day, I call upon each one of you to renew the commitment to serve rail users and achieve the goals set for the zone and for Indian Railways, he said. I am confident that your enterprise, approach and team work will yield results that will continue to position South Central Railway at the pinnacle, he added. The stunts performed by the commandos of Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF) enthralled the audience. The splendid cultural performances by students of Railway schools and employees invoked good response.
