PR No. 941 South Central Railway Holds Seminar on ‘Women’s Health and Well-being’

South Central Railway organized a seminar o­n ‘Women’s Health and Wellbeing’ at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad today i.e., 03rdMarch, 2023 as part of International Women’s Day celebrations. Shri P. Uday Kumar Reddy, Additional General Manager, South Central Railway (SCR), Smt. P. Srilatha, Vice-President, South Central Railway Women’s Welfare Organization (SCRWWO) and Shri. Rajiv Kishore, Principal Chief Personnel Officer, SCR were the Chief Guests o­n the occasion.

 

            Speaking o­n the occasion, Shri P. Uday Kumar Reddy, Additional GM, SCR stated that women are the pillars of the society and due recognition must be given to them. He encouraged the women employees to empower themselves and be confident and independent in every aspect of life. He appreciated the personnel department and SCR Lalita Kala Samithi for organizing the seminar which is much needed for the women employees to make them aware o­n the importance of health and maintaining a proper balance of office work and family life.

 

            Addressing the gathering, Smt. Srilatha, Vice-President, SCRWWO stated that ‘wellness starts from what we eat’, she advised the women employees to focus o­n consuming a healthy, balanced diet and maintaining physical fitness. She also said that, man and woman are co-dependent and should work towards maintaining harmonious family environment.

 

Dr. Monika, MD and Dr. Sylvia Fernandez Rao, Ph.D from National Institute of Nutrition were the guest speakers for the seminar and addressed various subjects relating to the physical and mental wellness of women employees. They explained about the importance of consuming balanced diets and maintaining physical fitness. Awareness was also created o­n observing hygienic practices and getting regular health check-ups to ensure timely treatment of any illness or diseases. The doctors stressed o­n the importance of Mental well-being especially for the working-class women. An interactive session was also held wherein the doubts and concerns of the employees’ were addressed.
