South Central Railway has bagged 11 first prizes in various categories at the
7th Garden Festival & 1st Urban Farming Festival, 2023conducted by the Department of Horticulture, Telangana State. The Garden Festival is being organized every year for the past seven years to encourage various stakeholders, organizations, institutions & Residential colonies situated in Telangana State to improve and develop the green cover across their premises. The prizes will be awarded by the Government of Telangana at a function to be held soon.
Applications were invited for the competitions in 12 different categories such as Landscape gardens maintained by State/Central Government institutions,Private companies, Defence organizations, Gardens maintained by Government undertakings, corporations, educational institutions, individuals, Farm-houses, Podium Gardens, Urban Vegetable Farming & Horticulture Innovation Technology.
The ‘7thGarden Festival & 1st Urban Farming Festival, 2023’ was conducted from 10th to 20th January.In this, South Central Railway has been adjudged with the first prize in 11 entries. These include five residential units as well four establishment units like:
ØRail Nilayam, SCR Headquarters Building, Secunderabad
ØHyderabad Railway Station – Vertical Garden
ØSanchalan Bhavan (Secunderabad Divisional Headquarters building)
ØHyderabad Bhavan (Hyderabad Divisional Headquarters building)
Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager expressed his happiness at SCR receiving eleven first prizes at the Garden & Urban Farming Festival, 2023. He appreciated Engineering department of Hyderabad & Secunderabad Divisions for always being in the forefront and undertaking various initiatives to maintain sustainable and green environment at workplaces and residences. He said that improving greenery in surroundings will not only help in creating a pollution free environment but will also increase the circulation of fresh air by improving the oxygen levels.
