On the occasion of International Women’s Day, South Central Railway Employees Sangh organized a program to honour the women in the Railway workforce today i.e., 09th March, 2023 at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad. Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, South Central Railway was the chief guest on the occasion. Shri P. Uday Kumar Reddy, Additional General Manager, SCR; Shri Rajiv Kishore, Principal Chief Personnel Officer, SCR, Smt. K. Padmaja, Chief Commercial Manager (C&PS), Smt. Ramisetty Pallavi, Popular TV Actress and Shri M. Bharani Bhanu Prasad, Zonal Secretary, NFIR also participated in the event.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Arun Kumar Jain expressed that it is very heartening to note that a huge contingent of women workforce is rendering excellent service in South Central Railway. He stated that SCR has always promoted positive work culture with due regards to women workforce so that they can work with dignity and pride. Today, we are here to celebrate the Nari Shakti. Over the years women have broken several societal barriers & stereotypes by excelling in all sectors and spheres on par with their male counterparts, he said. These days, women are working in various fields ranging from Loco Pilots, Station Masters, Guards, Track Maintainers, Engineers, Workshop staff etc., proving that they are no less than any man, he added.
Further, the General Manager reminded that ‘if you educate a man you educate an individual, however, if you educate a woman you educate a whole family’. He encouraged the women employees to empower themselves and inculcate teachings and values of equality in the minds of their children. While concluding, the General Manager also stated that SCR has launched various facilities for the working women and women passengers of Railways and will continue to strive towards providing a better environment for them.
Shri P. Uday Kumar Reddy, Additional General Manager stated that women should not wait for any man to empower them; instead they should empower themselves and strive towards excelling in all spheres. He stressed on the importance of finances and encouraged all the women to be financially independent. He also stated that equality begins at home and emphasized on equal treatment of girl and boy child.
The celebrations at Rail Nilayam consisted of mesmerizing song and dance performances, which witnessed enthusiastic participation from huge gathering of women employees.
