On the occasion of International Women’s Day, South Central Railway Mazdoor Union (SCRMU) organized an event to celebrate and honour the women in the workforce of Railways today i.e., 10th March, 2023 at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad.Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, South Central Railway was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Shri Rajiv Kishore, Principal Chief Personnel Officer, SCR; Smt. Rajani Jha, Deputy Financial Advisor & Chief Accounts Officer/Workshop; Dr. Shanmuka Priya, Central Railway Hospital, Lallaguda; Dr. Sajida Khan, President Awardee & 1st Female Music Technician; Smt. B. Kavita Yadav, Panel Advocate, High Court, Telangana State; Dr. Ch. Shankar Rao, General Secretary, SCRMU; Shri K. Srinivas, President, SCRMU and other members also participated in the program.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Arun Kumar Jain said that it is the duty of each woman to inspire, educate and motivate one another to excel in all spheres of life. He expressed that earlier the capabilities of women to perform tough jobs were always questioned. But over the last few decades, women have proved that they are equally capable and competent (if not more) to perform any duty on par with men. These days, women are working in various sectors from Railways to Army, Navy, Sports, Administrative Offices etc., and they are no less than any male, he added.
Further, he stated that it is commendable how women are able to perform their official duties and also take care of their families and household chores simultaneously. He appreciated all the women employees for their hard work and dedication to duty.
Shri Rajiv Kishore, Principal Chief Personnel Officer stated that women are equally capable, skilled and intelligent as the men. He said that some of the best employees on South Central Railway are women who perform their jobs excellently with utmost dedication and devotion to duty.
Today’s event also comprised of inspiring speeches from various women achievers who motivated the women employees to empower themselves and be independent. Dr. Shanmuka Priya gave a brief presentation on health awareness and guided the women to consciously take care of their mental and physical well-being. Earlier, Smt. Sarojini Reddy, Zonal Women’s Co-ordinator, SCRMU presented the welcome address. The celebrations also witnessed skit and singing performances, which were greatly enjoyed by the huge gathering of women employees.
