PR No. 85 - Tirupati Station Upgradation Works move on fast pace

 

-Basement flooring work – which will have parking facility – o­n the South-side has been completed.

-Foundation works for the two Air Concourse progressing swiftly.

-Concreting of foundations and walls for Underground Water Tank is completed while shuttering of top slab is in progress 

The upgradation of Tirupati Railway Station, which has been commenced in May 2022, is moving at a fast pace. This project is taken up by South Central Railway Zone o­n priority basis as part of “Major Upgradation of Railway stations” conceptualized by the Ministry of Railways. The work is being carried to ensure the timely completion of the project, which is targeted to be completed by February 2025.

 As part of the preliminary works, completion of Geological Survey, setting-up of Camp Office, concrete lab & storage sheds, concreting of foundations for the new upcoming station building at the South Side has been completed. Concreting in foundations of basement floor has been completed by 100%. As o­n date about 11,905 cum. of concrete in foundations, columns & slab of basement floor, retaining wall and air concourses has been used.

 The basement floor in the South-side of the station will have a capacity to hold 500 vehicles – 200 Four-wheelers and 300 Two-wheelers. The basement flooring work for the same has been completed. Further, the upcoming redeveloped station will have two modern air concourses. The foundations works for these two air concourse has been completed o­n Platform no. 6, while work is progressing o­n the rest of the platforms.

The upgraded station will also have 29 lakhs litres capacity of underground tank. For this, while concreting of foundations and walls has been completed, shuttering for top slab is in progress. Similarly, excavation work for construction of Sewage Treatment plant of 24 lakh litres /day is completed and 30% concreting of foundations completed.

   Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, SCR has stated that the progress of redevelopment of railway stations that are being carried out in the Zone is being reviewed regularly and it is being ensured that the works are being carried out as per the planned schedule. He also stated that, upgraded station will have all modern amenities at the station and will be able to meet the aspirations of the rail passengers in the years to come.
