South Central Railway celebrated the 09thInternational Day of Yoga at Indoor Stadium, Railway Sports Complex, Secunderabad today i.e., 21st June, 2023. Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, Shri Rajiv Kishore, Principal Chief Personnel Officer, Principal Heads of Departments, Officials and Staff took part in the Yoga activity. Live streaming of the program was also relayed in SCR’s Social media platforms to enable other staff and officers on the zone to witness & participate through virtual mode. This year the theme is 'Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ and the focus will be on practicing yoga for the Welfare of All as one World-One Family.
Speaking on the occasion Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager stated that, Yoga improves physical strength, balance of mind and flexibility to handle day-to-day activity. Yoga helps in developing inner peace and leads to stress free life. He advised the officials and staff of South Central Railway to adopt the teachings of Yoga and practice them regularly. He called upon the gathering to practice Yoga in everyday life to attain good health, sound thinking and spiritual discipline.
Shri Murari Mohan, renowned Yoga Teacher and State Coordinator for Art of Living Society, Hyderabad conducted the session with Asanas, Pranayama, Meditation and Sankalpam etc., A pledge was also administered to the participants for practicing Yoga in daily life. Shri Murari Mohan called upon the gathering to practice Yoga in everyday life to attain good health, sound thinking and spiritual discipline.
International Yoga Day 2023: This year the theme is 'Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ and the focus will be on practicing yoga for the Welfare of All as one World-One Family. Yoga is an ancient physical, mental and spiritual practice, originated in India thousands of years ago. The word ‘yoga’ derives from Sanskrit and means to join or to unite, symbolizing the union of body and mind. Research studies have shown that traditional yoga systems that include breathing exercises and asana or postures, chants, and meditation can reduce stress and improve immunity and lung functions.
