PR No. 214 - Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, SCR Reviews Monsoon Preparedness and Safety Measures

Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, South Central Railway conducted a detailed review meeting o­n the monsoon preparedness and safety measures in view of monsoon rains across the zone today i.e., 26thJune, 2023 at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad along with Principal Heads of Departments. Divisional Railway Managers (DRMs) of all the six divisions viz., Vijayawada, Guntakal, Guntur, Secunderabad, Hyderabad and Nanded Divisions also participated in the meeting through Video conference.

During the review meeting, Shri Arun Kumar Jain laid primary focus o­n list of probable monsoon affected vulnerable sections, bridges, tunnels and their status of maintenance in view of monsoon season. He also reviewed the availability of emergency equipment and reserve stocks of necessary materials like sand, boulders and pipes in case of any eventuality. He instructed the officials to deploy watchmen to monitor 24x7 at vulnerable bridges & tank bunds in case of heavy rainfall. He also stated that round-the-clock monitoring should be done so as to immediately undertake necessary measures in case of any emergencies.

The General Manager informed the concerned officials to ensure cleaning and maintenance of side water drains and waterways to avoid flooding of tracks and ensure smooth running of trains. He advised the officials and staff to strictly adhere the safe working condition of equipment, proper maintenance of registers pertaining to train operations and undertake all necessary monsoon precautions.

The General Manager stated that all supervisors should constantly monitor the field level activity and any issue should be attended instantly and rectified at the earliest. He also advised the officials to regularly sensitize the safety category staff through group meetings and individual counseling sessions etc.
