The section between Hasanparti – Kazipet of Secunderabad Division in SCR was suspended for train movements in both the directions today morning, due to the water flowing at the danger mark. Since the section falls in the critical route connecting Secunderabad / Hyderabad to Delhi via Balharshah, regular train movement was affected.
As a result, till 18:00 hrs of 27th July 2023, 5 trains were cancelled, 4 trains were partially cancelled, 2 trains have been rescheduled and 40 trains have been diverted through alternate routes. Messages have been sent to all the passengers who had made reservation in these trains so as to plan their journey accordingly.
In addition, help desks have been arranged at all major stations – not only along the regular routes but also on the diverted routes. These include stations like Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Nizamabad, Warangal, Kazipet, Karimnagar, Khammam, Mancheriyal, Sirpur Kaghaznagar, Ramagundam, ongole, Samalkot, Rajahmundry, etc. Further, helpline numbers have also been opened at important stations like: Secunderabad (040-27801111/27786666), Kazipet (08702576430), Vijayawada (0866-2576924), Gudur (7815909300), etc.
Regular public announcements are being done at all stations about the change in train movements for the information of the passengers. Ticket checking and railway staff was deputed to guide and assist rail passengers at stations. Refunds were arranged to passengers whose train was cancelled. To ensure adequate catering arrangements for the affected train passengers, trains having pantry facility have been identified and adequate stock is being ensured. Further, for the benefit of passengers of other trains, the catering units along the (diverted) route have also been informed for keeping adequate stock for the benefit of passengers. Food & Water were also provided to stranded passengers at stations, where trains were regulated.
Shri. Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, South Central Railways has been continuously monitoring the situation. He directed the Officers and staff for taking necessary measures to ensure train movement is restored at the earliest possible time duly ensuring all safety measures. He emphasised on ensuring least inconvenience to the passengers and timely dissemination of information to the passengers about any changes in regular train movements. The General Manager instructed all the officers and staff at various levels to be on high alert and keep a close watch on the progress of the rains and to be ready to tackle any emergency situation.
