 Shri Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for redevelopment of 508 Railway stations across the Nation including Hyderabad (Nampally) Railway station under the Amrit Bharat Station scheme today i.e., 06th August, 2023 through Remote Video link. Smt. Tamilisai Soundarajan, Hon’ble Governor; Shri G. Kishan Reddy, Hon’ble  Union Minister of Culture, Tourism and Development of North Eastern Region;Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, SCR, Shri Bhartesh Kumar Jain, Divisional Railway Manager and other senior Railway officials also participated in the program from a function held at Hyderabad Railway station.

 

Shri Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the redevelopment works at a cost of more than Rs 24,470 crores, these 508 stations are spread across 27 states and union territories, including 55 each in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, 49 in Bihar, 44 in Maharashtra, 37 in West Bengal, 34 in Madhya Pradesh, 32 in Assam, 25 in Odisha, 22 in Punjab, 21 each in Gujarat and Telangana, 20 in Jharkhand, 18 each in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, 15 in Haryana, 13 in Karnataka among others.

 Addressing the gathering, the Hon’ble Prime Minister remarked that the new India which is fast moving towards the goal of Viksit Bharat is o­n the o­nset of Amrit Kaal. “There is new energy, new inspirations and new resolutions”, the Prime Minister said underlining that it is the beginning of a new chapter in the history of Indian Railways. He informed that almost 1300 prime railway stations in the country will now be redeveloped with modernity as ‘Amrit Bharat Stations’ and will get a new lease of life. Out of the 1300 railway stations, the Prime Minister informed, the foundation stone for 508 Amrit Bharat Stations is being laid today at the cost of approx Rs 25,000 crores. He emphasized that the redevelopment project will be a huge campaign for infrastructure development in the country along with the railways as well as the common citizens.

 He stated that the government is working to make the Rail journey accessible as well as pleasant to each and every citizen. “The effort is to provide the best possible experience from train to station”, he added. He mentioned better seating o­n platforms, upgraded waiting rooms and free wifi o­n thousands of stations. The Prime Minister referred to the railway’s status as the lifeline of the country and said along with this, the identity of the cities is also linked with the railway stations which have become the heart of the city with the passing of time. This has made it imperative to provide a modern form to the stations, he said.

 The Hon’ble Prime Minister said that the modernization of so many stations will create a new atmosphere for development in the country as they will create a good first impression among the visitors. Upgraded stations will not o­nly increase tourism but will also give a push to economic activities in the nearby areas. He said the ‘One Station o­ne Product’ scheme will help the artisans and will help in the branding of the district. 

               Smt. Tamilisai Soundarajan, Hon’ble Governor, Telangana State speaking o­n the occasion, stated that Amrit Bharat Station Scheme will be helpful for the development of the State and useful for the general public. She shared travelling experiences in the train. She said that railways are providing quality, secure, safe and economic travel to the public. Development of Railway is development of the common people of the country. Railways are useful for the patients, students and middle class vendors, she added.

 Speaking o­n the occasion, Shri G. Kishan Reddy stated that Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision is to develop rail infrastructure and network to make the rail journey safe and comfortable. He stated that Railways sanctioned 12 new projects at a combined cost of Rs. 8, 494 Crores in the State of Telangana. It includes 731 kms of six new lines, doubling and tripling. Hyderabad railway station is being redeveloped at an estimated cost of Rs. 309 Crs and plans are being prepared to redevelop Kacheguda railway station as well.

 He stated that, the Telangana State witnessed a major passenger centric development in recent years. He also stated that Central Government is planning to construct a Ring

Road Railway Line Project along with the Regional Ring Road as a pilot project which will be a role model for development of urban and rural connectivity.

 Speaking o­n the occasion, Shri Arun Kumar Jan, General Manager, SCR stated that as part of the first phase of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, foundation stone is being laid for 50 Railway stations in SCR jurisdiction i.e., 21 Stations in Telangana, 15 Stations in Andhra Pradesh, 13 Stations in Maharashtra and 1 Station in Karnataka at a combined cost of nearly Rs. 2.079.29 Crs.

           Inspired by the visionary outlook of our Hon’ble Prime Minister, Indian Railways has taken up the initiative of Major upgradation of Railway Stations and “Amrit Bharat Station Scheme”, which is set to transform railway stations in terms of provision of modern passenger facilities and convert them into growth centers to the city’s populace. The idea is to optimize passenger experience and comfort while catering to the ever increasing needs and enhanced patronage of the Railway stations.

 The Amrit Bharat station scheme (ABSS) is aimed to modernize Railway stations, envisaging development o­n a continuous basis with a long term vision. Under South Central Railway, 114 stations across six divisions are set to see the change as part of redevelopment under ABSS and major upgradation of stations.

    Upgradation of Hyderabad Railway station

Hyderabad Railway station is o­ne of the important coaching terminals in twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad and is located in prime location of capital city region of Telangana State. The Railway station has been identified for redevelopment under the Amrit Bharat Station scheme and the upgradation works are being undertaken at a cost of Rs. 309 Crores. The Redevelopment of Hyderabad station will provide enhanced experience with world class amenities and facilities which will cater the needs of the increasing footfall in the future period.

 

Facilities that are proposed to come up are 

üTwo station buildings with 8740 sq.mts and 1,131 sq.mts.

üStation building renovation with modern architectural style using neutral and sober color palette.

üImprovement to facades by using straight lines which gives elegance and becomes more functional and accessible.

üElongated height between the floor and roof & high ceilings which makes stature façade.

üRetail Space including concourse area of 1,114 sq.mts

üParking area of 9942 sq.mts

ü14 Retiring rooms and AC dormitory

üCommercial area of 23146 sq.mts for future development

üElevated concourse with steel roof structure above concourse.

üTwo Foot over Bridges of 9 mtrs and 6 mtrs with proposal to connect o­ne FOB to metro station.

üAdequate Lifts & Escalators

üRenovated counters of Ticketing Windows and Automatic Ticket vending machines.

üGreen Building certification with Solar panels o­n roof

üDivyang friendly facilities

üFire fighting arrangements
