The Patancheruvu (Nagalapalli) – Adilabad New Railway Line is one of the important projects for which Final Location Survey (FLS) has been sanctioned by the Railway Ministry. This important line is likely to stretch for a distance of nearly 317 kms and is estimated to cost nearly Rs. 5,706 crs. This line is likely to connect several new and unconnected places particularly in Northern Telangana and is likely to provide rail connectivity to major towns like Ichoda, Neradigonda, Dhanur, Nirmal, Balkonda, Armoor, Bodhan, Rudrur, Nasrullabad, Banswada, Nizamsagar, Alahadurg, Sangareddy, Patancheruvu.

The New Railway Line is also likely to connect these new places with Capital city of Telangana (Hyderabad) and with Capital of India (New Delhi) by providing connectivity also with the existing main line. Accordingly, the new railway line apart from connecting several new places for the first time with rail facility will be useful for the socio-economic development of the region. It will aid in the passenger movement to and from the capital of Telangana state for multiple activities like agriculture, business, education, tourism, healthcare, etc.

The line also traverses through agriculturally developed areas and provides fillip to the marketing of agricultural produce like Rice, Maize, Cotton, Turmeric, Sugar, etc. to the farmers from Medak, Siddipet, Nizamabad and Nirmal among others.

Ministry of Railways has been giving special focus towards rail development in Telangana. Over the past 9 years, the rail budget allocation to the State has been increased by almost 17 times i.e., from Rs. 258 crores in 204-15 to Rs. 4,418 crs. This has led to creation of new rail infrastructure in the State. Over the past nine years, almost 575 kms of rail has been added to the rail network in the State. The sanctioning of Final Location Survey (FLS) FOR 15 New Railway Lines is likely to give further thrust to the rail development in the state.
