South Central Railway has undertaken the Swachhata Pakhwada (Fortnight) Cleanliness drive as part of the ‘Swachh Rail Swachh Bharat’ mission from 16th September to 02nd October, 2023.
As part of the same, Shri R. Dhananjayulu, Additional General Manager administered the Swachhata pledge to officials and staff today i.e., 19thSeptember, 2023 at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad.
A signature campaign was also led by the Additional General Manager to further motivate the staff and ensure active participation in the cleanliness drive.
The Swachhata Pakhwada campaign aims to bring awareness on the importance of ‘Swachh Rail Swachh Bharat’ mission among the public, Rail users and Railway fraternity. Towards this direction, several activities are scheduled to be undertaken during the fortnight drive to bring further improvement in the level of cleanliness at Railway stations, trains and Railway offices,. Extensive awareness campaigns will also be carried out to educate people on observing good cleanliness habits.
The Swachhata Pakhwada activities include Swachh Sapath and Awareness, Swachh Samwad (Awareness and Cleanliness Dialog with public), Swachh Stations (Clean Railway stations), Swachh Railgaadi (Clean trains), Swachh Patri (Clean Railway tracks), Swachh Karyalaka, Colonies & Parisar (Clean workplace, Colonies & Premises), Swachh Aahar (Clean food), Swachh Neer (Clean water), Swachh Jalashaye & Park, Swachh Prasadhan & Paryavaran (Clean toilets and environment), Swachh Competition, Swachh campaign against use of single use plastic and Swachhata Awareness Rally. The Swachhata Pakhwada campaign will culminate on 02nd October, 2023 and will be celebrated as Sewa Diwas (Community Service Day) to mark the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi Ji.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri R. Dhananjayulu, Additional General Manager advised the staff to adhere to the Swachhata pledge and actively participate in the Swachhata campaign. He also advised the officers and staff members to encourage their families and neighbors to take part in the Swachh Bharat mission. He stated that we should always strive to keep our surroundings clean whether it is at home or at workplace. He also emphasized that every person must dedicate at least 100 hours towards maintaining cleanliness in the surroundings, at the rate of 2 hours per week.
