Coal & Mines to present awards
South Central Railway will celebrate RPF Raising Day, an event of profound historical significance on 23rdSeptember, 2023 at RPF Training Centre, Moula-Ali, Secunderabad. Sri. Raosaheb Patil Danve, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Railways, Coal & Mines will grace the occasion as Chief Guest and will take the salute during the parade. Shri. Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, South Central Railway, senior officers from Central Armed Police Forces, State Police, various Government Departments, Railways and other eminent dignitaries will also grace the occasion.
The RPF was officially established in 1957 through an Act of Parliament, with the primary mandate of providing security to Railway property. In 1966, the force gained the authority to investigate, arrest, and prosecute individuals involved in unlawful possession of Railway assets. It was a momentous step toward ensuring the safety and security of the Railways. In recognition of its vital role, the RPF was granted the status of “An Armed Force of the Union" on 20th September 1985, a date we celebrate each year as the Raising Day.
The RPF Raising Day symbolizes the growth and evolution of the force. It is a day when all the personnel will come together with festive spirits to share the joy with the public and reiterate our commitment to serve them and work for the greater public good.
Parade will feature over 200 RPF personnel marching to the melodious tunes played by the RPF Band. It will consist of 11 platoons, showcasing the diversity and capabilities of our force, including a Mahila Platoon, a Platoon of RPSF, a CoRAS Commando Platoon, a platoon of Segway Riders, a Platoon of RPF Dogs, and a Platoon of retired RPF personnel.
During the event, the Hon’ble Minister of State for Railways will present prestigious awards such as the 'President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service,' “Indian Police Medal for Meritorious Service,’ ‘Sarvottam Jeevan Raksha Padak,’ ‘Uttam Jeevan Raksha Padak,’ and ‘ Jeevan Raksha Padak’ to deserving RPF personnel.
