The third Vande Bharat Express from the State of Andhra Pradesh will be flagged-off by the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri. Narendra Modi (through Video Conference) on 24thSeptember 2023. The train will connect the two major Southern Capitals of Vijayawada and Chennai with the pride of Indian Railways – Vande Bharat Express. Importantly, this is the first Vande Bharat Train between Andhra Pradesh with Tamil Nadu.
This indegenous semihigh speed train starts from Vijayawada railway station and connect with Puratchi Thalaivar Dr.M.G.Ramachandran Central Railway Station in Chennai city. Enroute, the train provides stoppage facility at Tenali, ongole, Nellore and Renigunta railway stations providing rail passengers the option to travel to either cities in both directions. The distance between Vijayawada and Chennai will be covered within a short span of 6 hours 40 mins. Importantly, the train goes via Renigunta, providing an opportunity to pilgrim passengers from both the States to visit the Temple town of Tirupati.
The train provides the fastest connectivity between Viajayada and Chennai, in this route. Filled with latest state-of-the-art technological features, it provides the most conveneient, comfortable and safe travel option for the passengers from all the two connecting Southern states. It also gives a fillip to the socio-economic development of the people in the region by expanding employment opportunities and strengthening the inter-dependencies between the people of the two southern states.
The regular train service of the Vijayawada – Chennai – Vijayawada Vande Bharat Express will commence its operations from 25th September 2023. The train is composed of 8 coaches (7 AC Chair Car coaches & 1 Executive Chair Car coaches) with the carrying capacity of 530 passengers. The train will be in service 6 days in a week, except Tuesday.
Detailed fares can be obtained through IRCTC website and at the reservation counters. The catering charges are optional and can be selected while booking the tickets. The fares from train starting and destination staion are as follows - The AC Chair Car fare including catering charge from Vijayawada to MGR Chennai Central is Rs 1420 and the Executive class fare is Rs 2630. Similarly, AC Chair Car fare including catering charge from MGR Chennai Central to Vijayawada is Rs 1320 and the Executive class fare is Rs 2540. The AC Chair Car fare without catering charge from Vijayawada to MGR Chennai Central is Rs 1135 and the Executive Class Fare is Rs 2280. The AC Chair Car fare without catering charge from MGR chennai Central to Vijayawada is Rs 1135 and the Executive Class fare is Rs 2280 only.
