Ministry of Railways have taken one more step ahead to further enhance the passenger amenities in Vande-Bharat Trains. The Vande-Bharat trains are known for the indigenization and equipped with cutting-edge facilities for passengers. These trains offer a swifter, comfortable and remarkably convenient travel experience. These trains are now being covered under the “14- Minutes Miracle” scheme which is set to be launched on 1st October, 2023 at Terminal Stations across Indian Railways as part of Swachhata-Hi-Seva campaign. The scheme will be formally launched at the Delhi Cantt Railway Station by Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Hon’ble Minister of Railways, Communications and Electronics & Information Technology.
The “14- Minutes Miracle” exercise will be held at Vijayawada and Tirupati Railway stations for the Chennai – Vijayawada and Secunderabad – Tirupati Vande Bharat Express trains respectively which will undergo the super cleanliness drive as part of the Swachhata hi sewa program.
Ministry of Railway has planned to conduct a massive cleanliness drive led by people on 1st October, 2023 at 10:00 AM with the volunteers contributing at least one hour of Shramdaan as a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. Around 22,000 events have been planned over all Indian Railways for this mega cleanliness drive.
Background:
The Swachh Bharat Abhiyan which was launched by Hon’ble Prime Minister on 02nd October, 2014 has now turned into a National Movement. A sense of responsibility has been evoked amongst the people through this Clean India Movement. The dream of a ‘Swachh Bharat’ visualised by Mahatma Gandhi has begun to take shape. Indian Railways, with its extensive nationwide network, plays a vital role in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Like every year, this year also Ministry of Railways is observing Swachhata Pakhwada from 15.09.23 to 02.10.23 with every effort to ensure the successful implementation of this campaign, aimed at fostering a much greener and more eco-friendly railway system.In this year, during the first 15 days (i.e. 15.09.23 to 30.09.23)of SHS campaign, More than 2.19 lakh people have participated in around 2050 activities with man- hours of 685,883 in the campaign.
Some of the key-highlights of the initiative are as follows:
i.A total of around 105 tons of plastic removed from the Railway premises.
ii.Around 1085 tons of scrap collected from various Railway Establishments.
iii.A special drive was launched to clear the area around railway tracks. Under this initiative 12,700 Track Kms was cleaned by the Indian Railways.
