Shri Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Prime Minister dedicated the New Railway line between Manoharabad – Siddipet and Electrification of Dharmabad – Manoharabad and Mahabubnagar – Kurnool to the Nation on 3rd October, 2023 at a function held at Nizamabad. The Hon’ble Prime Minister also flagged-off the inaugural Siddipet – Secunderabad Train service (through video conference). During this program, the Hon’ble Prime Minister also dedicated to the Nation and laid foundation stone for several other developmental projects in important sectors like Power and Health worth around Rs 8,000 crore during the function.
Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan, Hon’ble Governor, Telangana State; Shri G. Kishan Reddy, Hon’ble Union Minister of Culture, Tourism and Development of North Eastern Region; Dr. K. Laxman, Hon’ble MP, Rajya Sabha; Shri Dharmapuri Arvind, Hon'ble MP, Nizamabad; Shri Bandi Sanjay, Hon’ble MP, Karimnagar and Shri Soyam Bapu Rao, Hon’ble MP, Adilabad also graced the occasion. Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, SCR and other senior Railway officials were also present.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Narendra Modi congratulated the people of Telangana for the projects which were launched today. Speaking on electrification projects between Dharmabad - Manoharabad and Mahbubnagar - Kurnool, the Prime Minister said that it will increase the connectivity in the state along with a boost to the average speed of the two trains. “Indian Railways is moving with a target of 100 percent electrification of all the railway lines”, he said. He stated that the new rail link between Manoharabad and Siddipet will give a push to business and industry. The Prime Minister also recalled laying the foundation stone of the project in 2016.
During his address, the Hon’ble Prime Minister stated that the development of any nation or state depends upon its self-reliant capacity for electricity production as it improves Ease of Living and Ease of Doing Business simultaneously. “Smooth supply of electricity gives momentum to growth of industries in a state”, the Prime Minister remarked as he noted that the dedication of 800 MW Unit of phase 1 of Telangana Super Thermal Power Project of NTPC in Peddapalli district. He expressed delight that Telangana Super Thermal Power Plant is the most modern power plant out of all NTPC power plants in the country. “The major part of electricity produced in this power plant will go to the people of Telangana”, the Prime Minister said as he emphasized the central government’s propensity to complete the projects whose foundation stones are laid.
Telangana’s rail infrastructure gets a boost as the Prime Minister dedicated to the nation, rail projects including the new Railway Line connecting Manoharabad and Siddipet; and the electrification project between Dharmabad - Manoharabad and Mahabubnagar - Kurnool. The 76 km long Manoharabad-Siddipet rail line will boost the socio-economic development of the region, especially in the districts of Medak and Siddipet. The electrification project between Dharmabad - Manoharabad and Mahabubnagar - Kurnool will help in improving the average speed of trains and will lead to environment-friendly rail transport in the region. The Prime Minister also flagged off Siddipet - Secunderabad - Siddipet train service, benefiting the local rail commuters in the region.
The regular services of Secunderabad – Siddipet – Secunderabad DEMU trains will commence from 05th October, 2023 with stoppages and timings are as detailed below:
