The 75th Zonal Railway Users Consultative Committee (ZRUCC) Meeting was held under the chairmanship of Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, South Central Railway today i.e. 05th October, 2023 at Railway Officer’s Club, Secunderabad.31 ZRUCC Members including members nominated by State Govts., elected members from DRUCC (Divisional Railway Users Consultative Committee) of six Divisions, Consumer Protection Organization, Principal Chamber of Commerce & Trade Associations, Registered Passengers Association; Registered Passengers Association; nominees of Hon’ble Minister of Railways under special interest category also participated in the meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Arun Kumar Jain stated that SCR continues display exceptional performance across various segments, further strengthening its position as one of the top performing zones across Indian Railways. He informed that the zone has been continuously fine-tuning its rail services as per the demands of rail passengers, which has contributed SCR recording its best ever Gross Originating revenue of Rs 9,570 Crores in the first half of the Current fiscal. While, 135 millions of originating passengers’ transportation needs were met, 66.75 Million tonnes of originating freight was also carried during first half of the current financial year, he said.The General Manager expressed his happiness that within a short span of 9 months, 04 pairs of Vande Bharat Express Trains were introduced connecting Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu States,. All these trains are being run with more than 100% patronage by rail users. Similarly, the popular MMTS Services have been extended to new sections of Secunderabad – Medchal and Falaknuma – Umdanagar, he added.
The General Manager also informed that the Zone has been giving special focus to infrastructure creation. Last year was witness to the Zone adding best-ever track kms to its rail network and also recording it’s highest-ever electrification in a financial year, he said. Recently our Hon’ble Prime Minister dedicated the new Railway Lines between Manoharabad – Siddipet, Jaklair – Krishna and Electrification between Dharmabad – Manoharabad and Mahabubnagar – Kurnool. New Trains services have also been introduced in the new sections, he added. The General Manager stated that in the current year, 110 track kms have been added to SCR’s rail network. At the same time, the Zone is proceeding rapidly towards 100% Electrification of its rail network, which is likely to be completed in this financial year.
Shri Arun Kumar Jain stated that 106 Stations over SCR have been taken up for redevelopment under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. He said that these stations are being developed with long-term view and will have world-class amenities. Further, he stated that several Passenger amenities are being continuously introduced across SCR’s network. Till date, 142 lifts across 57 stations and 72 escalators spread over 22 stations have been commissioned for the benefit of rail passengers. Digital India Mission has been given a big boost with provision of free Wi-Fi facility across all railway stations (except halts), provision of cashless payments and ticketing facilities on the Zone, he informed.
Further, the General Manager stated that SCR is leading on Indian Railways in terms of number of passengers purchasing tickets through digital means.SCR has been a pioneer in adopting energy conservation measures, for which several awards – both at the National and State levels – have continuously been bestowed upon the Zone, he said. He also stated that Complaint Redressal Mechanism – “Rail Madad” – has been successfully functioning on the Zone helping in quick, prompt and easy way to address the passenger complaints while also proving an effective way to get passenger feedback.
Shri Arun Kumar Jain assured the ZRUCC members that the suggestions and discussions made by them will be given due consideration while formulating new plans and proposals for improving passenger amenities and services. The ultimate aim of each of us is the betterment of passenger service to the rail users, he said. The members were also apprised of the performance of SCR and developmental works under progress through a power point presentation. The members appreciated the efforts of SCR and its positive response to representations of members.
