Trespassing of Railway Track is a Serious Offence. It Endangers Public Safety and Interrupts Train Movements. As such, there is a need for enhancing the awareness amongst public to avoid the incidents, said Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, South Central Railway at a review meeting held o­n safety of train operations and punctuality today i.e., 6th November, 2023 at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad. Shri R. Dhananjayulu, Additional General Manager, SCR also participated in the meeting along with all the Principal Heads of Departments. Divisional Railway Manager’s (DRMs) of all six Divisions i.e. Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Guntakal, Guntur and Nanded joined the review meeting through video conference.    

Shri Arun Kumar Jain while reviewing the safety of train operations over the zone, came across the incident of o­ne Tractor stuck up o­n the track while tress passing. He instructed the officials to conduct wide spread awareness campaigns amongst general public by organizing counseling sessions at village Panchayats etc., o­n safety procedures to be followed while crossing the Railway tracks at Level crossings.

He advised the officials to conduct regular counseling programs to the loco pilots, assistant loco pilots o­n the road learning and instructed to avoid short cut methods. He advised the officials to come up with new ideas and suggestions to improve the safety in train operations and to avoid minor unusual incidents which may cause loss of punctuality etc,. General Manager further discussed o­n the rolling stock situation, signaling equipment and elimination of Manned Level crossings o­n the zone etc., He instructed DRMs to focus o­n working hours of train crew and to provide proper rest to them.    

He discussed o­n the punctuality of the mail/express trains and advised the officials to improve the punctuality. He instructed particularly to focus o­n track maintenance works and speed restrictions. He instructed DRMs to personally monitor departure timings at originating stations and to focus o­n reasons for late running of the trains. He also instructed to make study o­n the train timing schedules to improve the punctuality. He also instructed to monitor the primary maintenance of the coaching trains which involves cleaning, watering and catering etc., which may indirectly affect punctuality.     

 General Manager instructed to improve mobility of the trains o­n double line sections over the zone. He also instructed to focus o­n punctuality of long distance trains. He reviewed plans for improving the average speed, discussed o­n long haul trains and advised to improve speed of goods trains.
