Joint Mock Exercise on Train accident conducted at Bolarum Railway Station

Approximately twenty five passengers trapped inside the Coach which was unable to escape from the closed Train Coaches. Railway ART TEAM responded immediately and at the same time Railway Emergency Control Room informed to NDRF Team for support and to rescue the Passengers who were inside the Coach. NDRF Team reached incident place and established their Posts also rescued them with their specialized Equipment. The mock exercise was aimed at Co-ordination and preparedness of various emergency and Disaster response Services at times of Industrial disaster situation.


The above mentioned scene of disaster was not a real o­ne but a full scale Technical Mock Drill conducted jointly by SCR and NDRF personnel at Bolarum Railway Station today i.e. 17th November, 2023. Mock Drill was conducted in order to assess and enhance the efficiency and alertness of the staff to meet the challenges that arise during an accident. A team comprising of 25 personnel from Regional Response Centre (RRC) Hyderabad, 10th Battalion National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) under the command of Shri Damodar Singh, Dy.Commandant/NDRF along with Railway ART, SPARMV Team conducted a Joint Mock Exercise o­n Train accident at Bolarum Railway Station, Hyderabad Division o­n 17.11.2023 between 10:15 hours to 11:45 hours.

The objective of the Mock drill was also to test the use of various equipment procured for use during disasters and undertake hands-on experience with tools like cold cutting equipment such as saber saw, abrasive cutter to cut the window rods and the coach body, which facilitates easy lifting of injured passengers and evacuate them from the affected coaches. A 140 Tonne Crane and Accident Relief Train were also put to use during the entire exercise.

Shri K. Venkata Ramana Reddy, PCSO, Shri K.S.Jain, PCME, Shri Dharmendra Kumar, CMPE/Diesel, Dr. Srilaxmi CHD, South Central Railway & Shri Lokesh Vishnoi DRM, Shri M.Koteshwara Rao, ADRM/Operations, Hyderabad Division, Shri Damodhar Singh, Dy.Commandant/NDRF/10th Battalion, Dr. K.Anuradha, CMS, Shri N.V.Venkata Kumar, Sr.DSO, Hyderabad Division and all Branch Officers from Hyderabad Division participated and witnessed the mock exercise with their Teams.
