Two Day Regional Conference on PM GatiShakti National Master Plan held at Indian Railways Institute of Financial Management (IRIFM)

-The 64th Network Planning Group Meeting cum Workshop held o­n 22nd & 23rdJanuary, 2024 at IRIFM, Hyderabad

-Ministry of Railways, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Ministry of Road Transport & Highways and Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways participated in the Conference.


A two day Regional Conference o­n Prime Minister GatiShakti National Master plan is being organized by Ministry of Railways at Indian Railways Institute of Financial Management, Moula-Ali, Hyderabad o­n 22nd & 23rd January, 2024. The 64thNetwork Planning Group (NPG) Meeting cum Workshop is being held in which senior officials from Ministry of Railways, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade Ministry of Road Transport & Highways and Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways are participating. Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, SCR delivered keynote address during the Regional Conference.


Indian Railways is o­ne of the key drivers of the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan. Ministry of Railways has set up a multi-disciplinary GatiShakti Directorate in Railway Board. The GatiShakti Units have started functioning across all its divisions over Indian Railways. The PM GatiShakti National Master Plan has helped in expeditious sanction of projects, monitoring of execution of works and co-ordination with other Ministries/State Governments.


Shri Arun Kumar Jain, during his address stated that the conference marks another significant step for taking forward the Vision of our Hon’ble Prime Minister towards transforming the landscape of transport connectivity and infrastructure creation in the Nation. He opined that Infrastructure plays a vital role in the development of any nation. Investing in infrastructure is o­ne of the key drivers in achieving socio-economic transformation within a generation. Critical enabler for which is the establishment of a multi-modal transport network, which not o­nly reduces the cost of logistics, improves industry’s competiveness but also significantly boosts country’s exports, he added.GatiShakti, the national master plan that signifies a paradigm shift in decision-making, breaking down the silos of departmentalism.


He emphasized that an efficient logistics networks is vital component to achieve global competitiveness, GatiShakti addresses this need. He stated that, the six pillars uphold the GatiShakti Master Plan, emphasizing comprehensiveness, prioritization, optimization, synchronization, analytical capability and dynamic visualization. The General Manager stated that, South Central Railway has also been efficiently utilizing the PM GS Portal for planning and sanctioning projects. Currently, 09 projects extending for length of nearly 600 kms have been processed through the portal.


Ms. Sumita Dawra, Special Secretary, Department of Promotion Industry and Internal Trade made a presentation o­n PM Gati Shakti and its benefits. Senior Officials from Ministry of Railways, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways also participated.
