Maharashtra Gets a staggering amount of Rs. 15,554 crores for Railway Projects During 2024-25


-Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Hon’ble Minister of Railways Briefs Media o­n Budget Highlights, 2024

The interim budget, which includes the allocations to Railways, was presented o­n the floor of the Parliament o­n 01st February, 2024. Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Hon’ble Minister of Railways, Communication and Electronic & Information Technology held a virtual press conference today i.e., 01st February, 2024 from New Delhi o­n Highlights of allocations pertaining to Maharashtra State.Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, South Central Railway along with other senior Railway officials participated in the press meet at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad.


Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Hon’ble Minister stated that Indian Railways has been allocated Rs. 2,52,000 crore for the year 2024-25. He informed that the focus is o­n the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’. He stated that efforts are being made to increase the capacity in Railways. As part of the same, 3 Major Economic Railway Corridors projects will be implemented and as a result 40,000 Kms of tracks will be laid in the next 6-8 years, he said. 

Highlights of Railway Budget pertaining toMaharashtra State: 

Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Hon’ble Minister informed that the total budgetary allocation for Railways in Maharashtra is Rs. 15,554 crores for the year 2024-25. He stated that the budget allocation for the state has witnessed a staggering 1300% increase as compared to the years 2009-14 when the budget was just around Rs. 1,117 crores.

Further, the Hon’ble Union Minister stated that the total investment for development of Railways in Maharashtra is 80,000 crores. He stated that 1300 Railway stations across the state are being upgraded as part of the Amrit Bharat station scheme and 126 stations are being redeveloped as Amrit stations. He informed that 98% electrification of Rail lines has been completed in the state. The Hon’ble Minister informed that over 117 o­ne Station o­ne Product stalls have been set up at Railway stations across the state to promote local products.
