Safety and Punctuality of Passenger Trains

Needs to be Monitored Meticulously

Advance action plans are needed to meticulously monitor the train operations to ensure punctuality and safety said Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, South Central Railway at a review meeting held o­n safety of train operations, punctuality over the zone today i.e., 20th May, 2024 at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad. Shri R. Dhananjayulu, Additional General Manager, SCR also participated in the meeting along with all the Principal Heads of Departments. Divisional Railway Managers (DRMs) of all six Divisions i.e. Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Guntakal, Guntur and Nanded joined the review meeting through video conference.


Shri Arun Kumar Jain reviewed the safety of train operations over the zone. He instructed the officials to strictly adhere to safety procedures to ensure the safe running of the trains. He advised to regularly counsel the running staff like Loco pilots, Assistant loco pilots, Station Masters, and permanent way maintenance staff etc. He also advised the officials to conduct frequent field inspections to ensure compliance of worksite safety requirements without fail. He also held a review o­n the availability of safety items pertaining to Engineering, Mechanical and Signaling equipment etc., He instructed the officials to maintain the optimal stocks of passenger safety items like smoke detectors and fire extinguishers etc.

He also held a detailed discussion o­n the punctuality of the mail/express train and advised the officials to improve the punctuality. He instructed the officials to make proactive action plan in advance before taking up the infrastructure maintenance works. He also reviewed o­n the imposition of speed restrictions and advised the officials to review them to improve the average speed of trains.

Shri Arun Kumar Jain also reviewed o­n the passenger amenities such as the maintenance of FOBs over the zone. He instructed the officials to conduct special drives to complete the pending FOB maintenance works as soon as possible to avoid inconvenience to the passengers.  He also instructed the officers/staff to closely monitor AC coaches in all the trains to ensure proper cooling. He also instructed to ensure proper working of AC coaches in en-route and rectify minor failures immediately in case of any due to technical glitches, to avoid inconvenience to the rail passengers.
