PR No. 189 - Shri R. Dhananjayulu, AGM, SCR Inaugurates Regional Level Bal Mahotsav for Cubs & Bulbuls

The Regional Level Bal Mahostav for Cubs and Bulbuls of Southern States is being hosted by South Central Railway State Bharat Scouts and Guides from 3rd to 7thJuly 2024 at Railway Mixed High School, South Lallaguda, Secunderabad. Shri R. Dhananjayulu, President, SCR Bharat Scouts & Guides & Additional General Manager, SCR was the Chief Guest o­n the inaugural ceremony and declared open the camp today i.e., 3rd July, 2024. Shri Lokesh Vishnoi, President, SCR Bharat Scouts & Guides, Hyderabad District, Divisional Railway Manager, Hyderabad Division, Shri P. Kishore Babu, State Chief Commissioner, SCR Bharat Scouts & Guides, Principal Chief Personnel Officer, SCR and senior scout officials were also present.

The Bal Mahotsav is held for the age group of 5 to 10 years. The boys who attend the Utsav are called as Cubs and girls are called as Bulbuls. This is the first time that South Central Railway State is hosting this event. In the past, SCR had hosted the 1stAll Indian Railways Jamborette at Secunderabad in 1980 and 10th All India Railway Jamborette in 2002 at Hubli besides hosting Regional Yoga Fest in 2022 at Secunderabad and has conducted a number of State rallies for the scouts and guides.

Addressing the gathering of Cubs, Bulbuls, Cub Masters, Flock Leaders and Scouting fraternity Shri R. Dhananjayulu said that the young boys and girls are the foundation for the Scouting and Guiding organization. At this age, they learn to demonstrate their skills and talents like drawing and painting, storytelling, play acting and get a chance to participate in the adventure programs. Events like Bal Mahotsav will give the young children an opportunity for camping with the same age group but from different cultures and heritage as they represent other states, he added. He said that o­n the whole, such events prepare the young children to become efficient and responsible citizens of good character.

Shri A.K. Rawat, State Secretary, SCR Bharat Scouts & Guides and Dy. CMM, Coaching, SCR presented the Vote of Thanks.

Regional Level Bal Mahotsav:

In these 05 days event, around 200 Cubs and Bulbuls along with Cub Masters and Flock Leaders from Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Southern Railway and South Central Railway are participating. The theme of the event is Save nature for our future. Some activities are based o­n the theme. The camping helps them to learn adaptability and living with new people leaving their parents. They develop friendship and acquire the ability to work in a team with voluntary discipline following punctuality. They get ample opportunities for leadership.

The Cubs & Bulbuls wake up at 06.00 hrs and they do physical exercises for 30 minutes under adult leadership. They will have the daily inspection followed by flag ceremony from 09.00 hrs o­nwards, they participate in activities such as adventure games, jungle dances, storytelling, play acting, making handicrafts using waste material, group singing, quiz, social service, food plaza, folk dances etc. o­n the concluding day, they will participate in All Faith Prayer where participants representing different religions will render prayers. This activity helps them in spiritual development and religious tolerance besides respecting their own religion.

Shri D. R. K. Sarma, Leader Trainer from National Headquarters, Bharat Scouts and Guides is the Leader of the event and is assisted by trainers from Kerala, Tamilnadu, Andhra Pradesh and South Central Railway.
