The Railway Protection Force (RPF) Personnel of South Central Railway are keeping a close surveillance on the ticket booking activities in the Twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad through the Web-site of Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC). As a result of this constant monitoring, RPF gathered credible information that some agents without valid license are booking e-tickets and selling the same at a premium to their customers. Further information revealed that these agents are creating several personal IDs to book reserved e-tickets, under both Tatkal and general quota and supplying the same to their customers.
Acting on the information input, the Security Department of SCR formed a task force and conducted raids with the assistance of vigilance wing of IRCTC at Secunderabad and Hyderabad areas for a period of 20 days. During these raids, the railway team booked 30 cases against agents indulging in unauthorised booking and selling of e-tickets. This is in addition to 18 cases booked at RPF Post Secunderabad earlier. In all, 48 accused were booked and registered cases by RPF Posts at Secunderabad, Hyderabad and Sanath Nagar under section 143 of the Railways Act and were sent to judicial remand.
In this connection, passengers are advised not to purchase reserved tickets from unauthorised agents / touts to avoid trouble. Intense monitoring and checking of ticket booking activities is being done by the Railways to curb the menace of touts. Stringent action will be initiated against the guilty under relevant statutory provisions.
