South Central Railway celebrated the National Constitution Day all over the Zone today i.e., 26th November, 2019. Shri Gajanan Mallya, General Manager readout the preamble of the Constitution along with officers and staff at Tandur Railway station. Shri Arun Kumar Jain, Additional General Manager readout the Preamble of the Constitution along with officers and staff who assembled at Rail Nilayam, SCR Headquarters.
As part of the celebration of Constitution Day, an extensive campaign is being undertaken on the Railways, which includes administering the pledge by all the employees and officers at Zonal and all Divisional Headquarters, Workshops including the offices and other establishments today.
Constitution Day (Samvidhan Divas) is being celebrated all over India on 26th November every year to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India by the Constituent Assembly of India in the year 1949. The Constitution came into effect on 26th January, 1950.
The Government of India declared 26th November as Constitution Day in the year 2015, in tune with the 125th birth anniversary of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, the architect of Indian Constitution. Carrying this initiative forward, the Union Government decided to celebrate the 72nd Anniversary of the adoption of Constitution of India on 26th November, 2021.
As part of the celebrations, posters were displayed at Railway stations and also through various social media platforms of Railways depicting the web links to connect the portal for reading the preamble and also to participate in the quiz on constitutional democracy, which was organized by Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs (MoPA), Government of India. The web link also has the provision for downloading the certificate upon participation by the citizen.
