- General Manager, SCR briefed media about the progress of the project at Tirupati Railway Station
- Works going at full swing and major progress in Shifting of Utilities, Excavation of basement floor, concreting in foundations, etc.
A Major Upgradation of Tirupati Railway Station is being undertaken at a cost of Rs. 300 crs (approx) which will integrate Station complex from both sides of the temple town, to provide a seamless experience to the passengers. The Station will undergo a complete makeover with a new entrance building coming up on the South side, while the existing entrance at North side will be upgraded to provide unified experience to rail passengers. The Upgradation of the station is being done keeping in mind the needs of the rail passengers for the next 40 years.
Today, i.e., on 30th November 2022, Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, South Central Railway reviewed the progress of the work at Tirupati Railway station. The development works for the station has been awarded to M/s. Varindera Constructions Limited, New Delhi on 30th May 2022 under EPC mode, targeted for completion within the next 33 months i.e., by February 2025. Since then, to complete the project within the stipulated time frame work has been taken up at a swift pace.
Speaking to the media, the General Manager, SCR shared the details of the work completed till date. These include:
Ø Completion of Setting up of site offices, concrete lab and storage sheds for stacking of materials.
Ø Survey of Total Station along with Geological Investigation has been completed.
Ø While Shifting of utilities on the south side has been completely done, 70% arrangements for shifting of utilities on North side building are also completed.
Ø Excavation for basement floor wherein underground parking and other facilities will be coming up has been started and 53,600 cum (99%) of excavation has been completed.
Ø Work related to Concrete Mix design has been submitted by the agency and associated work taken up after getting the approvals.
Ø Erection of Batching plant has been completed.
Ø 80% of the Concreting in foundations has been completed.
Ø Retaining of basement floor completed by 30%, while work is progressing for the remaining portion. Reinforced steel is being used for foundations and retaining walls.
The General Manager stated that the development work of the station is being accorded highest priority so that the best of infrastructural facilities are provided for the rail passengers to this important station. Progress of the work is being continuously monitored at all levels so that the work is completed within the targeted time. He said that once the new station complex is completed, the rail passengers (including pilgrim passengers coming from all parts of the country) will have a unique travel experience at the station, with best of modern passenger facilities.
