Railway Protection Force, SCR Undertakes Fortnight Drive For Passenger Safety

In an unwavering demonstration of commitment to passenger safety and security, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) executed a special fortnight drive spanning from 01st to 15th December, 2023. Operating diligently across the sprawling jurisdiction of South Central Railways (SCR), this crusade witnessed commendable achievements in curbing criminal activities within railway premises.

The RPF teams, with steely resolve, successfully confiscated a substantial cache of contraband, including a staggering quantity of cannabis, weighing 60 kilograms having market value of Rs 15 Lakhs with arrest of 02 persons. Additionally, their vigilance resulted in the interception of 931 liquor bottles, valued at Rs 64,523/- with arrest of 06 persons, marking a decisive blow against illegal substance trafficking.

However, the RPF's triumph did not end there. The relentless pursuit of justice led to the apprehension of 24 individuals involved in the nefarious activities of stealing railway materials, valued at Rs 1,34,340/-. Swift and resolute actions have been taken, with legal proceedings initiated against the perpetrators.

In the realm of ticketing malfeasance, 24 cases have been registered for the unauthorized booking of 635 railway reservation tickets. The confiscated tickets, with an estimated value of Rs 12,64,984 stand as a testament to the RPF's unwavering commitment to combating fraudulent activities.

Beyond these exploits, the RPF's indomitable spirit manifested in the enforcement of order within railway precincts. 555 individuals were booked for smoking infractions, while 807 faced consequences for trespassing. A stern message was sent to 20 persons engaging in risky behaviors, such as dashing LC gates with vehicles and pelting stones on running trains.

Signal integrity and communication security were paramount, leading to the identification and booking of 16 individuals for cutting signal cables and interfering with communication systems. Further, 70 cases were registered for footboard traveling, 72 cases for gents invading ladies' coaches, and 290 for littering railway premises —a categorical stand against making railways untidy

Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, SCR appreciated the RPF team led by Ms. Aroma Singh Thakur, IG cum Principal Chief Security Commissioner, RPF/SCR for their commitment in ensuring safety and security of passengers and Railway property. He stated that the RPF should continue to undertake such strategic operations especially in view of the upcoming holiday season. He stated that the Railway protection force is steadfast in its pursuit of ensuring a seamless and secure journey for all rail users.
