The Dedicated Workforce of SCR has Set New Standards of Excellence in the Performance of the Zone - Shri Arun Kumar Jain, GM, SCR

36 Performance Efficiency Shields were Awarded to Divisions and Departments


South Central Railway celebrated the 68th Railway week today i.e., 22ndDecember, 2023 at Rail Nilayam Auditorium, Secunderabad. Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, SCR was the chief guest o­n the occasion and presented Zonal Efficiency Shields to Divisions & Departments and Individual Vishisht Rail Seva Puraskar awards to officers & staff during the program. Shri R. Dhananjayulu, Additional General Manager, Shri Arvind Malkhede, Senior Deputy General Manager; Shri A. Sridhar, Deputy General Manager; Principal Heads of the Departments, Divisional Railway Managers, other senior officers and staff were also present o­n the occasion.

Speaking o­n the occasion, Shri Arun Kumar Jain Congratulated the Awardees and appreciated their dedication and meritorious performance. He stated that the year 2022-23 has been o­ne of the momentous years in the annals of SCR with the zone achieving new milestones and setting new standards of excellence across various sectors. Sharing about few of the achievements, the General Manager stated that SCR has added a staggering 383.85 Kms of track to its Rail network, providing first time Rail connectivity to several new areas. Towards achieving “Mission Electrification”, the Zone electrified a record 1,017 Route Kms during 2022-23, which is the highest-ever addition in a single financial in SCR’s history, he said. He stated that the zone has also taken several steps in enhancing Capacity over its network. Importantly, the maximum speed along all the routes along the golden Quadrilateral Golden Diagonal as well as High Density Routes in the Zone has been enhanced to 130 kmph. In addition, the Zone has been continuously easing the congestion over its network by modifying major yards, creating Intermediate Signals, commissioning longer loops and removing permanent speed restrictions among others, he added. Further, the General stated that SCR’s earnings during the financial year 2022-23 have touched Rs. 21,635.49, the highest-ever in the Zone’s history. In addition, SCR’s relentless focus towards customer facilitation, efforts to strengthen the freight basket has led to Zone achieving its best-ever originating freight loading of 131.854 Million Tonnes and Rs 13,051.09 Crore as originating freight revenue.


Further, the General Manager stated that SCR's focus o­n safety and security is evident in elimination of 80 manned level crossings, construction of 78 RUBs/Limited height Subways and completion of 449 kms of track renewal works among others. Our RPF personnel conducted several operations during the year for strengthening security of rail passengers, notable among others was rescuing around 1,200 runaway and destitute children, he said.

On the development front, the General Manager informed that as part of Amrit Bharat Station scheme, 119 Railway stations across the zone are being redeveloped with an estimated cost of nearly Rs. 7,000 crores. These stations will have World-Class amenities, aesthetic interiors, elegant façade and host of features commensurate with the aspirations of our New Age Rail Passengers.

GM’s Over All Best Performance Efficiency Shield Presented to Secunderabad & Vijayawada Divisions jointly.

The General Manager’s Over All Best Performance Shield was presented to Secunderabad & Vijayawada Divisions jointly by Shri Arun Kumar Jain. The Shield was received by Shri Bhartesh Kumar Jain, Divisional Railway Manager, Secunderabad Division and Shri A. Narendra Patil, Divisional Railway Manager, Vijayawada Division.

The General Manager also presented other 35 Zonal Level Efficiency Shields to various Divisions and Work Shops of the zone as detailed below.

Secunderabad Division: Received GM’s Shield for Operations & Running Room; Best Utilization of track machines (jointly); Best Track Shield (Jointly); Civil Engineering Shield; Environment & Housekeeping Shield; Mechanical Shield (Jointly); Grievance Redressal Machinery Shield; HRD (Personnel) Shield; Hindi (Rajbasha) Shield; Best Maintained MRV Shield (Jointly) and Scrap Disposal shield.

Hyderabad Division: Received Electrical General Services Shield; Best Division for Elimination of Level Crossings; Best School; Rail Madad Shield for Best Division and Innovations shield.

Vijayawada Division: Received Finance Shield; Commercial Shield; Best Diesel/Electric Loco Shed (Jointly); Works Shield; Bridges Shield; Best Maintained DEMU/MEMU/EMU Shed; Mechanical Shield (Jointly); Best Loading Effort Shield; Operating Shield and Signal & Telecommunication Shield.

Guntakal Division: Received General Manager’s Shield for Cleanliness (Station); Best Diesel/Electric Loco Shed (Jointly); Best Utilization of track machines (jointly); Best Track Shield (Jointly); Best Maintained long distance train and Best Maintained ART Shield.

Guntur Division: Received Traction Distribution Shield; Safety Shield and Best Maintained MRV Shield (Jointly).

Central Hospital, Lallaguda: Received Medical Shield.

Mechanical – Workshop Shield - Tirupati Carriage Repair Shop

Best Stores Depot Shield - Mechanical & General Stores, Rayanapadu and General & Signal Depot, Mettuguda (Jointly).

Survey and Construction Shield - Deputy CE/Construction/Kazipet

During the 68thRailway Week Celebrations 77 individual awards were presented to the officers and staff in recognition of their meritorious contribution.
