Hon’ble PM lays Foundation Stone, Inaugurates and Dedicates To the Nation more than 2000 Railway Infrastructure Projects worth around Rs 41,000

·Projects worth more than Rs. 1,800 crores in South Central Railway are part of it.

·These include 15 Stations in Telangana, 34 Stations in Andhra Pradesh, 6 Stations in Maharashtra and 2 Station in Karnataka at a combined cost of nearly Rs. 925 Crores.

·It also includes 156 Road Over Bridges / Road Under passes at a combined cost of nearly Rs. 927.31 crores spread across the Zone

 The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi today laid the foundation stone, inaugurated and dedicated to the Nation around 2000 railway infrastructure projects worth more than Rs. 41,000 crores via video conferencing. Lakhs of people connected with the Viksit Bharat Viksit Railways event from 500 railway stations and 1500 other venues.

Simultaneously, a program was held at Begumpet Railway Station in which Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan, Hon’ble Governor, Telangana, Shri Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister, Telangana, Dr. K. Laxman, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, SCR, Shri Bartesh Kumar Jain, DRM, Secunderabad Division participated. Hon’ble Prime Minister laid foundation stone virtually for development of Begumpet Railway Station under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme including 57 Amrit stations and 156 RuBs / RoBs in SCR Jurisdiction today i.e., 26th February, 2024.

Speaking o­n the occasion, the Prime Minister said that today’s programme is a symbol of the new work culture of New India. “Whatever India does today, it does it o­n an unprecedented speed and scale. We dream big and work tirelessly to realize them. This resolve is visible in this Viksit Bharat Viksit Railway programme”, he said. He mentioned the scale that has gained unprecedented momentum recently. He mentioned his Jammu and Gujarat events of the last few days from where he launched massive expansion of education and health sector infrastructure. Similarly, today also, 550 stations in 12 states spread over 300 districts are being revamped. Talking about Gomti Nagar station project in Uttar Pradesh, more than 1500 roads and over bridge projects PM Modi underlined the scale and speed of the ambition and resolve of new India.

The Prime Minister said that today projects worth Rs 40,000 crores are seeing the light of day and recalled initiating the Amrit Bharat Station project a few months ago where work to modernize 500 railway stations in the country had begun. He underlined that today’s event takes this resolve even further and provides a glimpse of India’s pace of progress. Prime Minister Modi congratulated the citizens of India for the railway projects of today.  

Prime Minister Modi specially congratulated the Yuva Shakti of India for today’s development project as they are the real beneficiaries of Viksit Bharat. He said that the development projects of today will create employment and self-employment opportunities for lakhs of youth, while also benefit those studying in schools. “Youth have the maximum right to decide how Viksit Bharat will unfold”, PM Modi exclaimed. He expressed gratitude towards the youth for bringing the dreams of railways in Viksit Bharat to reality through various competitions and also congratulated the winners.

Prime Minister Modi reiterated the creation of a Viksit Bharat in the last 10 years, especially in railways where the change is apparent. He observed that in the last 10 years, facilities which were o­nce far-fetched have now become a reality and gave the example of Modernized Semi High-Speed trains like Vande Bharat, Amrit Bharat, NaMo Bharat, the fast pace of electrification of rail lines, and cleanliness inside trains and o­n the station platforms. He drew a comparison o­n how unmanned gates were commonplace in Indian Railways whereas over bridges and under bridges have ensured uninterrupted and accident-free movement today. He also mentioned that modern facilities similar to those in airports are now being made available to the poor and middle class at the railway stations.

The Prime Minister said that today’s Railway is becoming a mainstay of ease of travel for the citizens. Further commenting o­n the transformation of railways, the Prime Minister said as the economy jumps to 5th place in global ranking from 11th, there is a massive increase in the railway budget from 45 thousand crore 10 years ago to 2.5 lakh crore today. “Just imagine how much our strength will increase when we become the third largest economic superpower in the world. Therefore, Modi is working hard to make India the third largest economy in the world as soon as possible”, he added.

“Indian Railways is not just a passenger facility but is also the biggest carrier of India’s agricultural and industrial progress”, the Prime Minister remarked, noting that a faster train will save more time in transportation while also reducing industry costs. Hence, giving impetus to Make in India and Atmanirbhar India. Crediting India’s modern infrastructure, the Prime Minister hailed the nation as the most attractive place for investment all over the world. The Prime Minister concluded his address by showing the way for the next 5 years and said that the capacity of Indian Railways will increase when these thousands of stations are modernized, bringing a revolution of huge investment. 

Speaking o­n the occasion at Begumpet Railway station, Smt Tamilisai Soundararajan, Hon’ble Governor, Telangana stated that 15 railway stations in Telangana will be developed with airport standard facilities and several Vande Bharat Express trains are being run in the Telangana. She also stated that o­ne Station o­ne Product stalls are also being run in many railway stations to promote local products, art forms and cultural heritage in Telangana.

Shri Batti Vikramarka Mallu, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister, Telangana stated that railway is the biggest transportation network in the country which integrates all the distant places of the Nation. Indian Railways is useful for highest number of population with lowest transport charges. He stated that Railways is helping for the economic progress of the Nation with punctual transportation of freight across the Nation. He also stated that State Govt. is ready to co-operate in the development of railway projects in Telangana region.

Dr. K Laxman, Hon’ble MP, Rajya Sabha stated that the occasion is historical in providing modern facilities at the 554 railway stations across the Nation. The Union Government is working with a special focus o­n development of Railways, Roadways and Airways for the progress of the society and Nation,

Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, SCR stated that 57 stations of South Central Railway and 156 Road Over Bridges and Road Under Bridges are being laid foundation stone / dedicated to the Nation as part of this momentous occasion. He also said that 15 additional railway stations in Telangana, including Begumpet Railway station, are also being laid foundation in today’s prestigious program. In addition, 34 stations in Andhra Pradesh, 6 in Maharashtra and 2 in Karnataka across SCR are also being laid foundation stone as part of this momentous event. The Rail projects being taken up today are a testament to the rapid transformation underway in Indian Railways and symbolize the rapid progress being made o­n infrastructure development, connectivity and the commitment to serve the nation and its people.

Begumpet railway station is an important station in the Hyderabad district, which have been taken up under Amrit Stations Scheme with a view to fulfill requirements of the ever-increasing demands of rail users. Over the years, the stations have seen a significant increase in passenger footfalls and handling of trains.

Accordingly, Begumpet station is being taken up for development under “Amrit Station Scheme” at a cost of Rs. 22.57 crores. As part of it, a long-term master plan has been prepared envisaging development of modern facade, improvement to circulating area, free-flow of traffic facilities, Improvements to waiting halls and Provision of passenger friendly signages among others. o­nce completed, the station is all set to experience a new high in class and comfort, courtesy the up gradation plans in implementation under Amrit Station.

ØBetterment of station approaches to ensure smooth access by widening of roads

ØProperly designed signages, dedicated pedestrian pathways, well planned parking areas, improved lighting etc.

ØCreation of Landscaping, green patches

ØPreference to local art and culture to create a pleasant experience for the rail users.

ØEarmarking stalls for “One Station o­ne Product” scheme.

ØEnabling Second Entry for Station Building and circulating area as per the feasibility.

ØConstruction of High-level platforms and adequate Platform shelters.

ØProvision of passenger facilities and amenities like high Quality public announcement system, LED based station name boards, improvements to waiting halls, user friendly signages etc.
