Shri Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Prime Minister to Lay Foundation Stone and Dedicate to the Nation-Railway Projects Worth Over Rs 85,000 Crores


-The projects o­n SCR include o­ne station o­ne Product Units, PM Gati Shakti Cargo Terminals, Goods Sheds, Jan Aushadi Kendras, Double Line, Third Line, Gauge Conversion and Bypass Lines and Rail Coach Restaurants among others


-New Trains o­n SCR are Secunderabad – Visakhapatnam Vande Bharat Express; Kalaburagi – Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express (will pass through SCR) and Kollam – Tirupati Mail Express

 Shri Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Prime Minister will lay foundation stone and Dedicate to the Nation various Rail developmental projects across Indian Railways worth over Rs. 85,000 crores o­n 12th March, 2024 through video conference from Ahmedabad, Gujarat. 10 New Vande Bharat Express Trains as well as Extension of 4 existing Vande Bharat Trains will also be flagged-off o­n this occasion. Simultaneously, functions will be held at alllocations across the Nation.

In this regard, Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, South Central Railway held a press meet today i.e., 11thMarch, 2024 at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad. He briefed the media personnel o­n the details of Projects to be dedicated to the Nation, laid foundation stone/flagging off of trains across Indian Railway and o­n SCR jurisdiction.

 The projects o­n SCR include 193 - o­ne station o­ne Product Units (OSOP), 9 - PM Gati Shakti Cargo Terminals, 11- Goods Sheds, 2- Jan Aushadi Kendras, 14 - Double Line, Third Line, Gauge Conversion and Bypass Lines and 3- Rail Coach Restaurants. New Trains being Flagged off o­n SCR are Secunderabad – Visakhapatnam Vande Bharat Express; Kalaburagi – Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express (will pass through SCR) and Kollam – Tirupati Mail Express.

 One Station o­ne Product: One Station o­ne Product scheme aimed to promote ‘Vocal for Local’ vision provides a market for local/indigenous projects and creates additional income opportunities for the marginalized sections of the society. A total of 193 OSOP stalls o­n SCR will be dedicated to the Nation by Hon’ble PM, these include 55 units in Telangana State; 111 units in Andhra Pradesh State; 23 units in Maharashtra and 4 units in Maharashtra state.  Some of the products being sold at these stalls are Pochampally, Gadwal, Kalamkari and Dharmavaram sarees, Handloom, pearls, Etikoppaka toys, wooden toys, Millets etc.,  


PM Gati Shakti Cargo Terminals:The “Gati Shakti Multi Modal Cargo Terminal” (GCT) policy has been introduced by Indian Railways to promote proliferation of new Cargo Terminals and also to improve existing Cargo terminals to accelerate the growth in Railways’ Cargo Traffic. These terminals will ease the handling of freight commodities for transportation by Rail with enhanced facilities duly providing safe and secure transportation. The Hon’ble Prime Minister will dedicate to the Nation 9 Gati Shakti Cargo terminals o­n SCR.

Goods Shed Development:A major focus has been given by Indian Railways towards promoting transportation of freight commodities with initiatives like Hungry for Cargo. As part of several Goods Sheds across the State of Telangana have been improved / developed so as to provide them with customer-friendly facilities so as to not o­nly strengthen the existing freight basket but also attract new streams of traffic. The following Goods Sheds o­n SCR will be dedicated by Hon’ble PM:

Double Lines/Third Lines/Gauge Conversion and Bypass Lines:SCR has undergone a remarkable transformation in its rail infrastructure in recent years. Be it in terms of Laying of New Railway Lines, expansion of existing Lines into double, third and fourth lines, Electrification or even in introduction of modern rail facilities, the zone has seen unprecedented shift in its rail landscape. The sections of the Railway Line projects which will be dedicated by the Hon’ble PM are: Kazipet – Balharshah, Kazipet – Vijayawada and Vijayawada – Gudur third line sections; Guntur – Guntakal Double line section; Vijayawada bypass line section and Khandwa – Amlakhurd Gauge conversion.

Jan Aushadi Kendras o­n SCR:Jan Aushadi Kendras at Secunderabad and Tirupati will be dedicated to the Nation. In the pursuit to enhance wellness and welfare of passengers visiting railway stations, Indian Railways has conceptualized a policy framework to establish Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendras (PMBJKs) in circulating areas and concourses of stations.

Rail Coach Restaurants:Taking yet another step forward for providing unique experience to rail passengers, South Central Railway has taken novel initiative to provide Rail Coach Restaurants at two stations in Hyderabad city viz., Kacheguda and Necklace Road. Un-used rail coaches have been refurbished with aesthetic interiors for this purpose.

New Trains pertaining to SCR being flagged-off o­n this occasion:

1.Secunderabad – Visakhapatnam Vande Bharat Express:

Keeping in view the increased passengers demand for Vande Bharat Train service in this route, a second Vande Bharat Express is being flagged-off between Secunderabad – Visakhapatnam. This would be the 4th Vande Bharat Train to be started from Telangana. The Second Vande Bharat Train between Secunderabad - Visakhapatnam and will be operated as day service AC train with aesthetically designed, well equipped features. The train covers 700 Kms between Secunderabad and Visakhapatnam in 8 hours 45 minutes i.e., average speed of 80 Kmph

The regular service of the train will be commence from 13th March, 2024 Ex. Visakhapatnam to Secunderabad and from 15th March, 2024 (Friday) Ex. Secunderabad to Visakhapatnam for which bookings will open from 12th March, 2023.

2.Kalaburagi - Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express:

The Kalaburagi – Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express will be flagged off by the Hon’ble Prime Minister. The train has been provided stoppage at Raichur, Mantralayam Road, Guntakal and Anantapur Railway stations in SCR Jurisdiction.

3.Tirupati – Kollam Mail Express:

The Tirupati – Kollam Mail Express has been provided stoppages at Chittoor, Katpadi Jn,Jolarpettai Jn, Salem Jn, Erode Jn, tiruppur, Coimbatore Jn, Palakkad Jn, Thrussur, Aluva, Ernakulam, Kottayam, Changanasseri, Mavalekara, kayankulam Jn, Kollam Jn
