RPF South Central Railway holds Workshop on Anti Human Trafficking and Booklet on Anti Human Trafficking Units (AHTUs) Released

A o­ne-day workshop of filed formations and Anti Human Trafficking Units of Railway Protection Force (RPF), SCR and Government Railway Police (GRP) was organized by Railway Protection Force, Secunderabad Division, SCR today i.e., o­n 26th March, 2023 at Hawa Mahal, Sanchalan Bhavan, Secunderabad. Around 105 RPF & GRP Officers and Staff attended the workshop.

Shri Mahesh Bhagwat, Additional Director General Police, Railways graced the event andreleased the Anti Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) booklet of SCR in the presence of Ms. Aroma Singh Thakur, IG cum Principal Chief Security Commissioner, SCR and Shri Bhartesh Kumar Jain, Divisional Railway Manager, Secunderabad Division.


Shri Mahesh Bhagwat while addressing the workshop stated that Indian Railways is o­ne of the largest Railway Networks in the world. A significant number of people access Railway station for various purposes. In this population a large chunk of them are children accessing railway network to reach cities with a hope to find a better life. o­n the other hand traffickers also use means of Railways for trafficking children for labor, sexual exploitation etc. to meet their self-interest; as a result children fall into the wrong hands. There is therefore a strong need to address this issue of preventing and protecting the rights of the Children and other Human beings.


The purpose for holding the Anti Human Trafficking Workshop which was specifically aimed at ensuring better coordination among all stakeholders by addressing issues faced by all Departments and providing sustainable strategies.


Shri Md Shadab Zb Khan, DIG-cum-Chief Security Commissioner, SCR; Smt Shaikh Saleema, Superintendent of Railway Police, Secunderabad and Smt Debashmita C Banerjee Sr. Divisional Security Commissioner, Secunderabad Division were also present.
