MAINTENANCE

Role:

Electrical Maintenance organization is one of the branch in Guntakal Division entrusted with Maintenance of all Electrical Equipments working on voltage up to 11,000 Volts.

This Department is responsible for Maintenance of the following power supply installations at
141 Electrified Stations and Train lighting & Air conditioning depots over the division.

  • 6615 Electrified Staff Quarters.
  • 37 Nos. of 11KV/440 V Sub-stations.
  • 267 Pumping Installations.
  • 68 AC Coaches and 499 Non AC Coaches.
  • Un-interrupted power supply at 112 PRS / UTS locations.
  • Fans & Lighting arrangements at all stations, Staff quarters, service buildings and pump houses.

Organization:

Electrical General services is headed by Senior Divisional Electrical Engineer (Maintenance) and assisted by Assistant Divisional Electrical Engineer (Maintenance) looking after Train Lighting, Air Conditioning and Power Maintenance.



For maintenance of Coaches, Main depots are located at Tirupati and Guntakal.


There are 09 Main depots located at
Guntakal, Raichur, Gooty, Kadapa, Nandalur, Renigunta, Tirupati, Pakala, Dharmavaram & Dhone to look after maintenance of power equipments / installations at 141 stations over the division


Achievements:

National Energy Conservation Award 2012 was received by Chief Electrical Engineer, Secunderabad from Hon’ble President of India in Hospital Sector for the conservation measures adopted in Divisional Railway Hospital, Guntakal.


Passenger Lifts:

03 Nos. of passenger lifts were provided at Tirupati for the convenience of passengers.

Centralized Air cooling system:

02 Nos. of 35000 CFM capacity Centralized air cooling plant at Tirupati in concourse area have been commissioned to provide passengers comfort. And 3 Nos. of 12,500 cfm capacity Air cooling arrangements have been provided in Running room at Tirupati.






Chilled water coolers:

Chilled water coolers of 1200 LPH capacity have been provided at 12 major stations viz., Tirupati, Renigunta, Anantapur, Dharmavaram, Guntakal, Chittoor, Yadgir, Adoni, Mantralayam Road, Raichur, Cuddapah & Dhone stations.


High Mast Lighting:·
  • 16 Mtr. long High Mast tower lights were provided in the circulating areas at Tirupati, Renigunta, Sri Kalahasti, Kodur, Venkatagiri, Anantapur, Dharmavaram, Kadiri, Gooty, Guntakal, Chittoor, Pakala, Yadgir, Adoni, Mantralayam Road, Raichur, Cuddapah, Dhone stations.

    16 Mtr. long High Mast tower lights were provided in the loading / unloading area at Tadipatri, Hagari, Bethamcherla stations.

  • Mobile charging points:

    At all A1, A, B & D category stations Laptop / Mobile charging points provided at important locations viz., Waiting halls, Platforms, Retiring rooms, Concourse areas etc.

Signage boards:

Glow sign boards have been provided at all A1, A, B & D category stations.



Energy Conservation:

Solar Geyers:

Solar geysers have been provided at 09 stations for hot water provision & to conserve energy at the following locations:

Retiring rooms:Guntakal, Anantapur, Cuddapah, Renigunta, Tirupati

Running rooms:Guntakal, Raichur, Dhone, Dharmavaram, Nandalur, Renigunta, Tirupati

TTE’s rest house:Guntakal, Dharmavaram, Renigunta

Officers rest house:Tirupati

Holiday Home:Tirupati

RPF barracks:Guntakal

Training school:Guntakal

Railway Hospital:Guntakal



During the year 2012-13 13 Nos. of Solar Water Heaters have been provided over the division

    Solar geysers have been provided at 09 stations for hot water provision & to conserve energy at the following locations:

    Natural pipe lighting

    05 Nos. of Natural pipe lighting system provided in Personnel branch at Guntakal to conserve energy.

    Occupancy sensors:

    40 Nos. of occupancy sensors for Lights & AC control haven been provided in Officers chambers, Waiting Halls, VIP lounges etc., to conserve energy

Solar LC gates:

81 Nos. of LC Gates were provided with Solar home lights / Street lights over the division

LED inspection lights:

LED based inspection lighting arrangements provided at Guntakal, Tirupati, Raichur, Dhone, Renigunta & Kondapuram to facilitate under gear examination and carriage watering.

CDM project:

Under Clean Development Machinery (CDM project) 16431 Nos. of CFLs have been distributed among staff residing in Rly. Qtrs. at all stations to bring awareness for usage of energy efficient fittings and as a measure to conserve electrical energy.

Energy efficient pumps:

22 Nos. Energy efficient pumps have been commissioned in place of old and inefficient pumps over the division during the year to conserve energy.

Star rated electrical equipments:

507 Nos. of Star rated electrical equipments of 3 Star rated and above were provided such as AC plants, Geysers, Pumps, Ceiling fans etc., in waiting halls, retiring rooms, service buildings etc., where consumption is normally on higher side during the year 2012-13.


Replacement of conventional type items with energy efficient items during the year 2012-13.

Innovations:

Automation of pumps:



Automation of pumps with GPRS Technology at 3/3 pump house at Pakala and 3 Nos. at Renigunta have been provided to save man power and saving of energy.

Platform lighting automation with signal interlocking:

30% & 70% Platform lighting automation with Signal interlocking has been commissioned at Raichur, Guntakal, Gooty, Cuddapah, Rajampeta, Anantapur, Dharmavaram, Renigunta, Tirupati & Dhone stations (10 stations). This will save man power as well energy.

132 Nos. of 70% platform lighting control with OFF delay timer circuits have been commissioned to conserve energy as against 166 Nos. of identified platforms.

Improvements:

04 Nos. of inflatable tower provided at GTL, RU, DMM & PAK to facilitate immediate lighting at accident site/restoration of breach sites.


150W Metal halide fittings, 2 mtr. & 6 mtr. Long telescopic stands are provided in ART formation at GTL, RU, GY & DMM as per the Rly. Bd. Scale of fittings


OVP test kit has been developed in house to check the healthiness of OVP trip at the preset values in 4.5 KW RRU & 25 KW RRU


Eddy Dyno Drive: 75 HP VVVF drive has been commissioned at IOH shed TPTY for ensuring generation of 25 KW alternator and load sharing of alternators in AC coaches.

VVVF Drive: 10 HP VVVF Drive for testing of 4.5 KW Alternator has been commissioned at Tirupati.

Pre-cooling points:

40 Nos. of pre-cooling points provided at TPTY PF No.1, 2 & 3, 4 & 5 and sick line to facilitate
pre-cooling of AC coaches to provide comfort at originating stations.

 


Battery chargers:

06 Nos. of 200 Amps capacity Battery Chargers have been installed & Commissioned in all
Non-AC Coaches at Tirupati to ensure proper working of Lights & Fans in coaches.


Energy Auditing:

At 5 major locations Energy auditing has been done for load centers, Sub-stations, pumping installations, station lighting over the division.
