- An Overview
Guntur Division was operationalized with effect from 1st April, 2003 with a jurisdiction of 674.22 Route Kilometres (597 km electrified and 77km non electrified) by amalgamating 3 sections of 3 adjacent divisions viz., 369.39 Kms. from BZA Division, 141.29 from Guntakal Division and 107.88 Kms, from Secunderabad Division.
Double line: GNT-KCC, GNT-TEL, GNT-NLPD, PRCA-STUR (Electrified).
Single line: NLPD-PGDP, NLPD-PRCA, STUR-NDL, NDKD-MCLA(Electrified),
RAL-TEL, PGRN-SYM (Non-electrified)
Works in progress: GNT-GTL doubling, NDKD-KHT new line, RAL-TEL electrification. GNT-PGDP doubling sanctioned.
Guntur Division has a total of 63 stations and 4 block cabins connected to GNT Jn station. All the Block stations and Cabins are equipped with panel-interlocking with Multiple Aspect color light signaling.
This division is serving industrial as well as agriculturally rich areas of 3 districts of Andhra Pradesh and 2 districts of Telangana States.

Interchange performance: Apart from the originating freight trains, several through loads are being run on the division with majority of trains running with CC+8 / CC+6 loads on KCC-NDL / NDL-KCC section which is part of the route connecting power houses located at Muddanuru / Raichuru. The interchange has been maintained at an average of 40.8 trains per day during F.Y-2019-20.

Coaching Operations:
Guntur being a new division also visualized its dream of setting up one new station i.e. “New Guntur Station” and opened for traffic on 15.02.05. Three pairs of Express trains 16031/16032 MAS-JAT-MAS, 16093/16094 MAS-LKO-MAS, 17643/17644 MAS-COA-MAS have been diverted via New Guntur coaching terminal without touching Guntur yard.
There were 22 Express trains & 32 passenger trains running on this division per day before formation and after 01.04.03, the division is running an average of 46 Express &67 passengers per day with facility of running DEMUs/MEMUs, meeting local commuter needs.
Punctuality: Division has judicious and best utilization of sectional booked speed / MPS of 95/100 KMPH on the division and excelled in punctuality exceeding targets set by administration in achieving Super fast /Mail / Express trains Punctuality by proper planning and close monitoring of operations.

FOIS and COIS:For up-to- date Railway transport monitoring for both freight and coaching train operations effectively, latest devices such as Freight Operations information system & Coaching operations information system were put into service with computer terminals.
1. RMS terminals – RMS terminals are located in the control office. Freight operations data is being fed round the clock.
2. TMS terminals – There are 10 fully operated TMS terminals where the work of all commercial formalities are being done. 1. Miryalaguda, 2. Vishnupuram, 3.Nalgonda,4.Donakonda,5.Narasaraopet,6.Nadikudi,7.Chityal 8. Reddipalem 9. ICL/VNUP and 10. Nandyal.
Non- device concept - Terminals where TMS systems are not provided. The commercial work is being connected to nearest terminal. 1. Pondugula, Macherla, Guruzala stations are connected to Nadikudi and 2. CONCOR operations are connected to Reddipalem.
3. EIMWB (Electronic in Motion Weigh Bridge)- There are totally 5 motion weigh bridges available in GNT Division, in which 2 i.e. NLPD & NDL are Railway owned and remaining 3 are private at ICLV/VNUP, MPJP & MDCJ at JNPD.
4. Control Office Application (COA):The Control charting of control boards i.e. Pagidipalli Board & Nandyal Board have been computerized and made operational since Jan’2008 as computerized charting is more effective for train controlling as well as forecasting. COA has been linked to FOIS & COIS application for better monitoring of Freight and Coaching Trains. Provision of updating COA application is provided at 8 stations i.e., GNT, MCLA, MRGA, MRK, NDKD, NDL, PGRL & RAL to ensure actual timings.

ii.Commissioning of new sidings / PFTs:
a)A new Private siding owned by M/s Penna Cements Limited (MPJP) served by Janpahad Railway station on VNUP-JNPD section is opened w.e.f. 02/08/2012.
b)A new Private siding owned by M/s Deccan Cements Limited (MDCJ) served by Janpahad Railway station on VNUP-JNPD section is opened w.e.f. 03/02/2017.
c)A new PFT owned by M/s Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy (PLIN) Infra Pvt Ltd commissioned at Nagireddipalli Railway station on NDKD-PGDP section w.e.f. 08.05.2020
d)M/s Chettinadu Cements private siding at Tummalacheruvu work in progress.
e)TSGENCO Yadadri thermal power plant siding is coming up at Vishnupuram Station.
f)M/S Balaji Ware housing corporation PFT is coming up at Thipparthi station.

NEW STREAMS LOADED SO FAR IN 2020-21:
a)Boiled Rice from Nagireddipalli (NRDP): 39 rakes with revenue of Rs.14.11 Cr. as on 30.09.2020.
b)Dry Chillies, Turmeric, Ginger & Cumin seeds from Reddipalem (REP):12 rakes with Rs.3.9 Cr as on 30.09.2020.
c)Parcel Cargo from Reddipalem (REP): 11 rakes with Rs.2.31Cr by running first International Time Tabled Parcel Cargo Express to Bangladesh. It was the first such initiative of IR.
