Role :

                     The Major function of the Commercial department is to generate revenue through the sale of journey tickets to the traveling public. The commercial department also does the booking of parcels offered by the customers for transportation through rail. For customers who wish to transport the goods in large quantities through rail, the commercial department books them through wagon loads and train loads. Redressal of claims and refunds arising out of cancellation of tickets etc., is also the job of the commercial department. Public grievances arising out of unsatisfactory services provided by the Railway and feedback by the customers are registered and redressed by the commercial department. Moreover the commercial department is ever inclined to coordinate with other departments of Railways in order to provide better services to the passengers.

Passenger Amenities available on Secunderabad Division

 Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS):
Unreserved Ticketing System has been extended to a total of 122 stations for providing better services to the Passengers and for quick dispensing of tickets. This is an advanced version, which facilitates issue of tickets from any station to any station. This system enables the passengers to avail the benefit of purchasing general tickets three days in advance for the destination beyond 200 kms.
•    Passenger Reservation System (PRS):
Passenger reservation system facility has been provided at 105 locations which includes12 (twelve) satellite locations, 3 defense locations, 23 (Twenty Three) India Post PRS locations) and 6 (Six) Yatri Ticket Suvidha Kendra (YTSK) in Twin cities
 Out of 122 UTS locations, at 51 locations reservation facility has been merged with UTS.
•    Janasadharan Ticket Booking Sewaks (JTBS):
With a view to extend the general ticket issuing facility to the door step of rail passengers, JTBS are in operation at 5 (Five) locations in Manchiryal, Khammam, Tandur, Udgir and Hafeezpet stations
•    Yatri Ticket Suvidha Kendra  (YTSK):
With a view to extend the reservation ticket issuing facility to the door step of rail passengers, YTSK are in operation at 6 (six) locations in Secunderabad (1), Hyderabad (4), Chandanagar (1).
•    Introduction of Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs):
For the convenience of Rail Passengers and commuters’ user friendly smart card based Automated Ticket Vending Machines are operational at 46 stations. Over SC Division, 88 ATVM’s are installed and services of 103 Facilitators are being utilized at 36 stations.

•    Installation of Cash-coin ATVMs

Cash coin ATVMs have been installed so as to reduce congestions at unreserved ticket counters. Apart from dispensing card tickets and monthly passes, commuters can also recharge their smart cards by inserting cash into these ATVMs. At present, 17 Cash coin ATVMs are installed over SC division.
•    Provision of POS machines at stations:
With a view to encourage cashless transactions, POS machines have been provided at various stations over Secunderabad Division. A total of 124 POS machines have been installed at Booking offices and 53 at reservation offices.
•    Outsourcing of Enquiry Counters:
Face to Face Enquiry counters at Warangal, Khammam, Kazipet, Manchiryal, Mahbubabad, Bhadrachalam Road, Ramagundam, SirpurKagaznagar, Bidar, Tandur, Vikarabad&ParliVaijnath stations have been outsourced for providing information to travelling public.
•    ATMs:
Over Secunderabad Division, ATM contracts are available at 20 locations of which the contracts are in place at 2 locations in A-1 category, 3 locations in A category, 8 locations in B category, 6 locations in C category and 1 location inSanchalanBhavan premises.
•    Vehicle Parking Contracts:
Over Secunderabad Division, Vehicle parking contracts are in place at 48 locations.
•    Cleaning Contracts:
Over Secunderabad Division, Cleaning contracts awarded by Commercial Department are in place at 4 B category stations and 11 D category stations to maintain cleanliness at railway stations. At 2 B category stations and 12 C category stations, contract for maintaining cleanliness has been awarded by Engineering department monitored by Commercial Department.
•    Book Stalls:
Over Secunderabad Division, contracts for operation of Book stalls awarded by the Division are in place at Bidar, Begumpet and ParliVaijnath railway stations.
•    Miscellaneous Stalls:
Over Secunderabad Division, contract for operation of Miscellaneous stalls awarded by the Division is in place at Hyderabad railway station.
•    Chemist Stalls:
Over Secunderabad Division, contract for operation of Chemist stall awarded by the Division is in place at Secunderabad railway station.
•    Adarsh Stations:
Over the Division, 22 stations have been identified to be developed as Adarsh stations. Developmental works have been completed for 19 stations and works are under progress for 3 stations.

•    Development of Railway Stations in association with Ministry of Tourism (MoT):

Hyderabad railway station has been identified for Joint Development in association with Ministry of Tourism with an estimated budget ofRs. 8.82 crores. The salient features of the scope of Work under the project are as follows:

•    Improvements to circulating area for direct entry/exit from main road.
•    Pay & Use toilets exclusively for Ladies and Gents near second class waiting hall.
•    Provision of Executive Lounge.
•    Tourist Information Centre to be operated by IRCTC.
•    Improvement to PA system and proper and adequate signages.
•    Provision of adequate number of garbage bins.
•    Adequate number of steel chairs to be provided on the platform.
•    Furniture and counters of the booking/enquiry offices to be given a facelift.
•    Improving the amenities for Divyang.
•    An area inside main entrance to be earmarked as ‘Meeting Point’.
