Stores Department - भंडार विभाग The Stores Department is the procurement and disposal agency for entire South Central Railway . The entire activity of recoupment , procurement, inspection , accounting , stocking and distribution of stores is looked after by the Stores Department . Stores are procured for the maintenance of rolling stock (locomotives , coaches , wagons) and infrastructure ( track , singnalling systems, building etc .), operation of assets (lubricating oils etc.) and repairs in workshops. Procurement of stores is being done on-line through IREPS website: www.ireps.gov.in. Paper less working is implemented in finalisation of tenders on-line w.e.f. 01-04-2016 both Direct Acceptance and Tender Committee cases.
iMMIS (Integrated Material Management Information System) is also implemented for procurement of Stores through local purchase by 15 Stores Depots and 6 Divisions.
Purchase Module and Depot Module of iMMIS is also being i mplemented by Hqrs. Office and Depots shortly.
All the Tenders costing more than Rs.15 lacs are also published in the NEWS papers to give a wide publicity and transparency in procurement.
Organization
The Controller of stores , who is assisted by 3 Chief materials managers, heads the organization . Stores are purchased in the headquarters office and stocked in 15 stocking depots. There are 15 stocking depots situated at Secunderabad , Vijayawada, Tirupathi, Kazipet, Gooty and Guntakal. These depots cater to the requirements of nearly 1,000 stations in six divisions, 4 workshops , 8 loco sheds and 1 printing press. A number of indentors spread across the Railway Network.
