.0INTRODUCTION
Diesel shed Kazipet was established for maintaining 100 Locos and commissioned by Shri. P.N.Kaul, the then GM/SCR on 21.04.1973 with a Loco Berthing Capacity of 20 locos.
Proposal for Shed Augmentation was sanctioned from 100 to 150 Locos for 2015-16 at a sanctioned cost of – Rs. 28.15 Cr.
Further, a proposal for augmenting of the shed capacity from 150-250 locos was submitted under PWP 2016-17 for Rs. 27.52 Cr as per Railway Board instructions.

Kazipet Diesel shed is providing 51 passengers link locos per day and 14 inferior locos working for departmental service besides a targeted goods outage of 93.6 locos.

2.0. ORGANIZATION
Shed is headed by Sr. DME (Dsl.) and assisted by 04 Gazetted Officers. The Officers lead a dedicated team of 698 Non-Gazetted employees, who help in moving the Broad Gauge wheels over Indian Railways. Details of Officers posted at DLS/KZJ are as under:-

·Staff Health Care:
-Diesel colony Health Unit is provided for taking care of Health of staff and their families.
-Periodical health check up camps for staff by corporate Hospitals are conducted once in a year
-Health camp for diesel shed employees has been conducted from 12-05-2016 to 19-05-2016 by Sub-divisional Railway Hospital, Kazipet and Mega health camp was conducted by Maxcare hospitals, Hanamkonda on 26-05-2016

Diesel Loco shed has one training centre for imparting training to running staff.

DTTC HOSTEL/KAZIPET
- Hostel with 20 Rooms available. Hostel Maintenance is outsourced including cooking of food.
- Augmentation work was sanctioned vide LAW 149 during 2011-12 at the cost of Rs.1.89 cr. Augmentation of Hostel building for extra 9 rooms in third floor is under progress and about complete by the end of August 2016

•Safety awareness meetings are conducted by safety team once in a month and safety display boards have been prepared in this regard and displayed at various locations i.e, at workplace.

SAFETY OF M&P
1. Every major M&P maintenance schedules have been designed (daily, weekly, monthly and yearly)
2. Check list for each schedule have been prepared by shed
3 Schedules are carried out by shed Mill Wright staff
4. Chain, rope, hooks and sling testing are being done by LGDS staff periodically.
5. Last testing done is displayed on the machines for proper monitoring
6. Steam Boiler and all loco air reservoirs testing is being done by Boiler Inspector/BZA periodically.
