ØShed was sanctioned for homing of 100 locomotives in 1998.
ØThe Shed construction started in 2002 and trip shed was inaugurated in November-2004. Main shed commissioned on 01.03.2008
ØAugmentation works of homing capacity from 100 locos to 125 locos under progress.
ØDetailed estimate for augmentation works of homing capacity from 125-175 sanctioned vide PB 670/16-17 is under progress

UNIQUE FEATURES
ØThis shed is holding unique 160 WAG7 type locomotives which is considered as work horse of Indian Railways.
ØHave Lowest man power ratio 2.56 Men/Loco compared to all full-fledged working Electric Loco sheds over Indian railways.
ELS/KZJ as a destination for trials of advanced technology equipment before propagate over Indian railways.
DPWCS (Distributed power wireless control system):At ELS/KZJ 12 locos i.e.6sets are provided with DPWCS system. These 5 sets are working in push pull mode since commissioning in KTPS-BDCR-RUSG-MUGR section of SC division. One set yet to be commissioned.
TCAS: 20 Locos of ELS/KZJ are provided with TCAS(Train Collision Avoided System) on trail basis. These locos are under extensive trails by RDSO in SNF-VKB-TDU-Kirunguntla section of SC division for further proliferation over Indian railways.
