Time Line of S&T Workshop, Mettuguda

1916 - 1950

This workshop was established for  Nizam's State Railway with a total area of 36.638 Square meters wherein the  covered area was 12,800 Square meters and served as a small repair unit for  Engineering Department.

1951-1956

Formed as part of S&T Department and taken over by Central Railway and the first expansion programme has been sanctioned.

1960

Mr. Marine Terelius - A Swedish expert studied the Shop and submitted a report on the production of Electrical Signaling items.

1961

Production of Signaling equipment's went up to .28 Lakhs per annum.

1964

Mr.Toshio Watanabe - A Japanese Production Expert was attached to the shop for about six months for introduction of new items.

1966

South Central Railway was formed and the Workshop came under this Railway. Introduced & Commenced the Production of facility for Track recording of Track Recording Cars.

1969-74

Workshop succeeded in developing the production methods for Zinc elements.

The Production of Electrical signaling equipment was stepped up. Various overhauling sections have been set up to meet the requirements of this Railway.

1974 -75

Turnover of the Workshop crossed .100 Lakhs.

1977-78

Manufacture of Electrically lit Signal lamps was taken up.

Production crossed over .200 Lakhs.

1981-82

Lifting Barriers were manufactured and supplied to Nigerian Railways, thro Indian Railway Construction Company.

1985-86

Production reached a new record of .250 Lakhs. Production of Zinc Elements has been stepped up from 8,000 to 15,000 per month as per the instructions of Railway Board.

T-43 Trunk Boards has been developed and production has been taken up.

Live model was manufactured for display of Panel Interlocking at ZRTI/ Moula Ali for the students.

1989-96

Neal’s Tablet Block Equipment has been manufactured and subsequently production has started. RDSO approval was obtained.

1996-97

Domino type station panel’s were manufactured and sent to GTL division.

1997-02

Press type boom lock developed and manufacturing was started.

L M-55 Point Machine slides were manufactured according to RDSO modified drawing and successfully replaced the slides.

2002-2005

Electrical operated lifting barrier was developed and prototype gate was made and erected at LC Gate No.2 at Moula Ali for Life test.

2005-2006

1.Obtained Initial type approval for Electrical Operated Lifting Barrier from RDSO.

2.SGE Modified Double-Line Block Instrument (PTJ type) is developed and RDSO approval is obtained.

3.SM's Slides sample was developed and Initial Type approval was given by RDSO/LKO.

4.Regular Production of all the above has started from the date of Approval.

5.Production of station panel and LC Gate panel taken up.

6.5% reduction in allowed time is made in all SG, and NON-SG Items resulting in saving of time and labour to enable to achieve record production of 18.13 Crores for the year 2005-2006 despite surrender.

2019-2020

New items developed and introduced which are cheaper than the present market rates:

1.LAN Extender – 30 Mbps.

2.Failure alert system.

3.Auto change over switch for E1 (OFC) & Copper cable for Digital Axle counter.

4.Platform clock with GPS sync.

5.Passenger announcement system.

6.Coach guidance board to RDSO spec: TC-61/2005

7.Gate announcement system.

8.Signal post mounting (Hoisting) Unit.

9.Long range LED torch.

10.Tri color LED lamp.

11.Warning cum Work light LED based.

12.Mini cordless Inspection lamp LED based.
