DLS/MLY does not generate plastic waste. Solid waste generated are segregated into two main categories viz., Hazardous and non-hazardous. Hazardous waste is disposed under contract to approved agency of TSPCB M/s Ramky Enviro engineers Ltd for which contract is renewed every two years. Further the non-hazardous waste is also further segregated and disposed as per laid down procedures.

Shed has an Effluent treatment Plant (ETP) of capacity 5KL/hour which is in working order and no effluents are let out. Further water recycled from ETP is utilized for gardening and washing of locos, DEMUs and DEMU coaches instead of using fresh water.Released oil is stored in barrels and sent to DLS/KZJ for using in reclamation plant.The sludge is collected and used in the incinerator as hazardous waste.

Shed is in communication with TSPCB and is in regular practice of filing returns as well as payment for consent of operation.
Shed is already in compliance to the enumerated Acts and obtained consent & Hazardous Waste Authorization from TSPCB on 16.12.2016 consent for operation is valid up to 09/2021
Shed has installed water flow meters and ensuring record for fresh water consumption, recycled water re-use.

Shed is equipped with ETP of 5KL/hour capacity. All DEMU coaches of DLS/MLY are fitted with Bio-toilets. Further shed has entered into a JPO with division for ensuring the cleaning of all coaches including toilets is undertaken before sending the rakes to shed.
As part of ISO 14001:2015 shed has also been certified for noise pollution levels within the permissible limits. Certified by M/s. Universal Enviro Associates, Hyderabad done every month.
