DC Link Motor Test Kit for EMD Locos
Testing of DCL motor and switch gear unit before fitment on locomotive.
Previously DC Link motor and switch gear were tested manually which was taking more than 6 Hrs. DLS/GY developed a test kit in which DCLDCL motor and switch gear can be tested within twohours. Thus saving man-hours with reliability improvement as it avoids repeated connections to interlocks.

Computer Controlled Brake (CCB) 1.5 & 2.0 Panel Test Bench
Diesel Loco Shed, Gooty is having 159 HHP Locos in which 117 locos with CCB-1.5 and 47 locos with CCB 2.0 version. Diesel Loco Shed, Gooty has developed two test panels for both the versions to test valves after overhauling and cards to identify any trouble. Development of both the panels of CCB is unique on IR.

TEST STAND FOR 3PHASE ELECTRIC LOCOMOTIVE SPEED RECORDER CUM INDICATOR UNIT
DLS/GY is homing 20 WAG9H locomotives. Each locomotive is fitted with microprocessor based speed recorder cum indicator unit which is used for indicating the speed and recording the speed and distance of the locomotives on timely basis.
DLS/GY developed a test stand for testing the speed recorder cum indicator unit. The test stand consists of a motor which can vary the RPM from 0 to 500.A Pulse Generator is provided to measure the rpm which in turn will convert into electrical signal. The frequency of the output pulses from the PG depends on rpm. The testing procedure is to observe the speeds in speed recorder cum indicator unit by giving fixed rpm and constant wheel diameter.
The test bench also consists of the provision for checking of relay interlocks which activates when the speed reaches up to 105% and 110% of maximum speed. The interlocks conditions are monitored by using LEDs which will ensure the working of the relays inside the speed recorder.

Replacement of roller switches with haul effect sensor in dynamic controller of HHP locomotives
To overcome the malfunctioning of roller switches, this shed has developed Hall Effect sensor (A3144) as alternate arrangement.

FABRICATION OF WHEEL STAND FOR TRANSSHIPMENT PURPOSE
Purpose: For transshipment of wheels set from GOOTY to RYPS and CRS and back for overhauling purpose.
Description:Previously HHP/ALCOwheelsets were sent to RYPS/CRS for Repair/Overhaulingwith support sheets which were getting damaged frequently duringtransshipment and also, it was prone for damage of Bull gear teeth and CTRB seal damage. To avoid such problems two sets of wheel stand are made for transshipment purpose.

BENEFITS :
<!--[if !supportLists]-->1. <!--[endif]-->Easy loading and unloading of wheel sets.
<!--[if !supportLists]-->2 Avoiding to damage to wheel sets during transshipment.
<!--[if !supportLists]-->3.<!--[endif]--> No repeated damages of sheets.
MODIFICATION OF FOOT STEP ARRANGEMENT (OR) MODIFIED FOOT STEP ASSEMBLY
Purpose: To avoid infringement of footsteps during wheel turning.
Description: Earlier in Electrical Traction Locos foot steps are to be removed before placing the locos on wheel Lathe for Wheel Turning. The Foot Steps were infringing to the Wheel Late holding equipment since the Foot Steps was exactly across the Axle Box and obstructing the Axle Holder. Due to this obstruction at the time of Wheel Turning these Foot Steps required to be removed from the Loco. To avoid this repeated problem the modified Foot Steps has been designed by DLS/GY. So with this modified Foot Steps the removal and refitting is avoided during machining of the Wheels on Wheel Lathe Machine. Thus it saves man power and detention of Locos in Shed.
Benefits:
1. To avoid detention of Loco for removal and refitting for every wheel turning.
2.Man Power is reduced.
